My next engine modification

Uhh Yeah!.

After seeing the price, I switched back here like quick. I didn't read the description, but it should've read something like:

For sale: Extremely rare cross ram for 289/302. Originally designed and Intended for engines competing in the late 60's/early 70's Trans-AM race circuit. While "not optimal", it can be used on the street, given the following conditions are understood:

#1. It'll cost you an Arm.
#2. It'll cost you both your legs.
#3. Now that you only have one arm you are no longer capable of driving a car, so you needn't worry about the street driveability issues associated w/ this setup.

Use that Megasquirt and buy or build this...

The last, is really where I'm going I think. Since a 4.6 has a flat, horizontal head to intake mating surface, I'm also considering replacing that intake completely w/ a 1/4" aluminum plate and running 8 1bbl carbs sitting on little pedestals. That'd be one each per port. Gotta find a carb rated at 100 CFM or less that doesn't look like ass and small enough to sit in front of each other.

This should put the OHWF at a 10 I think.

I'll even consider the 8 port thing as a throttle body/injected thing since I have a MegaSquirt built and sitting waiting for an engine to control.
I also don't know where I'd get 8 little throttle bodies that won't cost a bazillion ba buck bahs. This will probably get killed off when I start to consider the fuel system. I currently have a carb pump, and no return line.

This was going to be my suggestion before I even got to this part of your post.

That would be so perfect in that car. I believe that's what I would do if it belonged to me. I would go with EFI with 8 throttle bodies. I saw a 64 Thunderbolt clone at Goodguys that had a 427 Cammer with the 8 TB EFI on it, it was so sick!

How about using your fabrication skills to make a long ram setup ca. 1960 Mopar 413/426/440? You'd never see another like it on a Ford, and it wouldn't cost you much more than time. I mean, since we're smashing together cars here anyway...

I've always wondered what you could do with a setup like that with EFI. On an application like that, you've gotta carry fuel in the air charge all the way through those long ass runners. In EFI, you don't. Hmmmm.

Here's a Cobra I saw at Mid-America.

That looks like a real cammer and not a Coyote in that cobra. AND those are Webers. Those carbs are about 350 a pop. four of them, 1400.00. I'll bet I could never find a similar looking throttle body setup new in the box for even a fraction of that.

I like it.

Yeah, I've also thought about it, and I've always thought it looked cool as hell. But like Nik, I was concerned that the runner length would be a cold start nightmare, and a slow, sluggish pigbitch with regards to throttle response. (Now get it going on the high banks of Talledega, and I'm sure it'd be great.)
That coupled to the fact that the carbs would live right over the headers, and I think for me I'll have to pass on that idea.

Well, I don't know if this would clear the hood, but this allows you to use your 4bbl carb mount for three 2bbl carbs.

The adapter is made for a 4 barrel pattern of 5-1/8” wide and 5-9/16” front to rear. The measurements are made from center to center of the bolt holes. Remember seeing this on Gearz, might not be exactly what you where thinking, but unique.

I was talking about 3 Holley 2300 style two bbls. Those are Rochester 2GC's. (typical of what you'd see on a street rod, running a vintage flathead)

This is a 340 chrysler 6 pack. This is what I meant

I have pretty much ruled out any carb setup that will be covered by an aircleaner. (I mean what's the purpose of having all that junk, if you're just gonna hide it?)

Webers, or individual throttle bodies w/ little aircleaner screens on top is the direction I'm looking to go.
