New tranny and Engine Bay Smoothing (pics)

Well i started on my engine bay some this week. It sucks i hate using bondo and i especially hate sanding bondo.... Iv been welding all the holes then filling them. I hope to get it done soon so i can go ahead and drop the motor and the new tranny in. They tranny guy finally got it built and brought it to me, so i cant wait to drop it all in. Well here are some pics.

You can see on the passenger side i got CRAZY with the bondo and put WAY TO MUCH. Im bout to grind that all off and start over. My dad came out and helped me with the driver side which is gonna be alot less work before there way less sanding. Tell me what ya think so far.

The tranny is a C6 built for 800HP and the converter is a 10" 3500 stall.

I reallly hope my 408 is a beast, i really wanna run 10's, Which i think is doable , i just might need to juice!!!!

We took my friends iron headed 306 to the track this friday and he ran a 11.40 @ 121. I wanna be able to do that on motor.... But we will seee.

Thanks for the compliments.

That'd be pretty sick! I'm sure the motor won't disappoint I'd like to take a ride in that.

I just went with a 4R70W, manual vb, 10" 3000 stall and all built internals good for 800 too. It turned the car into a monster!

ahhh yes bondo and sanding... fun fun. lol. Pick up ur self a cheese grater for the bondo it makes sanding alot easier. It sucks now but wait till its all done and looking awesome!

New Parts - getting closer!!! Pics

Well i bout got my fuel system ready to be put in. I got all aeromotive parts. I will be running the Aeromotive 150 with the 100 micro filter. Im getting all my russell/earl fittings from a friend for free so thats saving me alot of money there. Im gonna run 1/2" aluminum hard line from the back to the front to the regulator. I had a guy at my shop weld in my tank sump for me, so i will being running steel braided from the sump --->filter ---> pump, then hard lines to the front. I also ordered Maximum Motorsports XL full length SFC and solid motor mounts. Im still waiting to paint the engine bay... Once that is done i will be able to drop the motor in and do a bunch more work.Well here are some pics of all the new parts.

Smoothed/Painted Engine Bay Done - Pics

Well after a bunch of body work i got really tired of messing around with this crap. I got it looking good enough to spray some paint on it. Spent all day sprayin 2 coats of primer and sprayed 1 coat of gloss black. Not sure if im gonna spray clear on it or not, we will see. Well here are some pics. Im just glad its finally done so i can drop the motor in it now Tell me what yall think.

Looks great! Not sure if black is different but when I did mine in red, it didn't really pop until the clear went on. In case that's the look you're going for.

Not really sure if i want it to pop or not.... I just wanted it painted so i could drop the engine in. This engine bay project turned out to take way longer then i wanted/expected.... From now on i will stay away from body work stuff, i just cant get motivated to do that kinda work.

I agree on the clear. I should have cleared mine. Did not realize it because the car was not painted, so by itself it looked good.

Not sure about a black engine bay. Never been a fan, but with all the work you did it looks very nice. Now get a motor in it and enjoy.

I wouldve stayed with the exterior color for the engine bay. Other than that looks great

And if he ever decides to change the exterior color, then he has to change the engine bay color as well.....

Thats the exact reason i painted my engine bay black. I know ill have exterior color changes in the future, and the last thing i wwant is to have to pull the motor to paint the engine bay right.
