wow. that is a small crank pulley. Are you going methanol injection too? Nitrous injection? Are you going to do a cutoff after the downpipe for the race track? From what I hear, the turbos quiet the exhaust noise down quite a bit
 
I don't really like the idea of the downpipe blocking access to the plugs, but I put in a couple of V-band fittings so at least it's fairly easy to take off.

That was the biggest problem I had with getting PS to fit. I don't like it either, but seems to be a needed evil. It looks good though. The second V-band is what I did for Mario also. Plugs are easy again.:D Your almost there.

Crank pully is pretty small, but accessory pullies are the original size so I don't think it will be a problem.

No plans for methanol or nitrous. One of the main reasons I wanted to fit an intercooler is so I wouldn't have to bother with that stuff until it's time to make some serious HP.

This is a street car, so no I didn't put a cutout in, although that's not a bad idea.
 
Hmmm... still need to download the pics from my camera, so don't have much of an update. Most of the install stuff is done. I hope to start the car for the 1st time tiomorrow. Hopefully everything will go well and I can start with the install of the boost and AFR guages, then get started with the tuning.

Until then, you'll have to live with just a couple of pics of the final piping after ceramic coating and being wrapped with exhaust wrap:

Here's a pic of the crossover tube.

I'm very happy with how the ceramic coating and wrapping came out. Not bad for a 1st timer (both with the ceramic and the exhaust wrap).

I like everything but the dowpipe(the blocking acess to the spark plugs wouldnt really bother me) it looks like its touching the valve cover....my 20g turbo on my neon consistently has EGTs of 1600 degrees after a hard run....thats a lot of heat to be transfering to the valve cover....if it were an aluminum cover it would melt....steel, the flange for the gasket may warp...if I were you I would definately wrap the downpipe too...I'm planning twin turbo for mine...using a pair of stock cast iron manifolds(probably ported) so I have eneough room to run downpipes underneath them, anyway, looks like good work, I'm always interested in turbo systems....another thing you may want to consider is getting an aluminum manifold with bosses for fuel injectors for better effeciency(or drill your own injector holes into the stocker) I also notice you are still using the distributor...why? I use MegaSquirt on my turbo neon and was actually running Ford EDIS-4 with an escort module and a 4.6L trigger wheel mounted to my crank pulley, being able to adjust spark timing through megatune is priceless
 
The downpipe is wrapped also, and I'm not worried about it touching the valve cover. The fins on that cover are 3/4" high, so if I have to, I can just grind a fin down. It just barely touches when wrapped (it didn't touch bare).

The TBI injectors seem to work just fine for now. From what I've read, without sequential injection port injectors are kind of a waste anyways.

Yes I have a distributor, but the spark is still controlled by the megasquirt and I can adjust the timing with megatune. I plan to switch to coil over plug once the MS sequencer board is released. Until then I'll just stick with an effective low-buck solution.
 
if you run less than 4 digit horsepower, you will never know the difference between batch fire and sequential injection. unless you wanted to tune each cylinder individually. megasquirt works great, dont let that injection method be the deciding factor against that

Thanks. That's pretty much what I've read in a couple of places. The advantages of squential port injection are hardly worth the trouble. There is no advantage as far as horespower goes...

Sequential ignition (To do things like COP) however, is an improvement that is worth persueing.
 
well, I have some neon friends running COP on 2.4Ls(4 bangers) in non-wasted spark mode...they have to pull a second trigger from the cam sensor though to do it, works with the MS2 code...however I'm sure you could mount a pickup to the cam gear on a v8(maybe a DSM optical sensor?) and accomplish the same thing
 
As far as I know, 8cyln COP isn't supported and I haven't seen a success story yet either.

The MSII doesn't have enough outputs for me to do COP even if it was supported. I'm using just about every one... even had to re-assign the accel LED output so that I could run both speeds of my electric fan.
 
Well, most of the work under the hood is now complete! And I started the car last weekend. I'm very happy with the outcome. Everything worked out great, it looks good, and everything looks like it "belongs".

Only work left to do under the hood is to put in a new ignition coil (and get rid of that yellow plug wire), and to put the hood on.

The next steps are to install boost and AFR guages, as well as re-vamp my existing guage panel. Then comes tuning.. I'll have to completely re-tune the megasquirt ECU due to all of the changed made.
