N E way to tell DSS? Shortblock

tommarow im gonna go look at a motor with 12K on it, where the guy says he bought a parts car off a friend, but his friend said the shortblock in the car is a DSS 306 with a E cam. The problem is the motor is complete. With all stock stuff on it supposivly. So is there a way to tell if it really is a DSS without taking off the heads?

dss block

dss stamps there blocks on the back of the motor on the bell area.. back of the lifter valve... should say dss level whatever it is... 1 2 3

if its a shortblock it will also have dss pistons
and there also stamped dss .030 on the top of the pistons...


these are pretty good indications of a dss motor
