I recently traded my fox body stang a 1969 fastback with a 351cj cleveland engine, 3 speed auto, narrowed 9 inch/ladder bar/ with 4:56 gears..
I traded this car with a friend, who has only had the 69 for a few months.. He only drove it once, and he said the carbs wernt set up and it was running to rich.. I recieved the car with the intake off, and I would like to rebuild the engine.
What i need is some combo ideas and i cant seem to find much information.. I would like to keep the tunnel ram 600cfm dual holly intake set up, and it has the 4v heads.. thats about all i really know about the car at this time.. i would like around the 450 hp mark.. and i know i need at least a 3000 stall, so i have that already in mind..
I really would like to keep the costs down if possible but still want a reliable steet setup.. Any ideas would be great, or sites with info about the 351C would be appreciated.

Tunnel ram intakes and 4 bbl cleveland heads aren't exactly what you'd want for the street. Hope this isn't going to be your daily driver. With those gears and a 3000 stall, a tunnel ram and dual fours, about all you can expect for mileage is somewhere between 4-9 mpg. And add the extra cost for premium gas there too.

I agree. In order to use a 1200cfm tunnel ram setup, you'd have to spin that 351 to about 11,800rpm. Not only that, 4v Clevelands arent known for being that streetable even with small carbs, cams, and intakes. They can be, but usually lack low-end torque.

I would recommend a milder approach to the same goal: a single 650 carb, moderate cam, and either a healthy dual-plane or mild single plane intake. I imagin you could sell off the parts you have and at least break even the more useable setup. I would also consider a lower stall convertor and 3.50-3.89 gears.

Actually they run quite well under 3K rpm's just not with a tunnel ram and 2 fours. A good dual plane such as Edelbrocks new Performer RPM or Blue Thunder's dual plane would be a better choice, topped with a list #3310 750 cfm Holley.

Your last paragraph completely contradicts everything you wrote in the first 3 paragraphs. You won't find many people that can mix ladder bars/narrowed rear/dual tunnel ram/4.56 gears and streetability. The best sites I've found for tech info are fordmuscle.com and for a dedicated cleveland forum check out http://www.network54.com/Forum/119419

The cleveland under the hood in this picture makes 400 RWHP...so that is over 500 at teh flywheel

My advise for a street setup would be to sell the intake and dual quads, they will net you enough on ebay to pickup a blue thunder or strip dommy intake and a decent carb. Add to that a good cam combo and you will have a nice fun power plant. I had a tunnel ram intake and dual 600 q-jets on the 351c in my car when I bought....it will be a complete dog on the street since most street driving is done from idle to 2500/3000 RPM. You will have to floor it out of every stop light just to keep up with traffic and just when you get close to your power band, you will have to shut down for the next light and never realize the true power potential...then some neon will pass you and blink his lights.

When I rebuilt the 351C 4V in my 70 Torino it was bored .030 over and I put in just a 72 CJ cam. Stock everything else except a recurved, dual point distr. With the 3 spd auto and 3.25 gears, I easily got 20+ mpg on the highway and 14-16 in town. So, if you're going to use the 4v heads for a daily driver, plan appropriately. It wasn't very slow at that point either.
