Can you guys recommend a good roller cam for a 351w with a wiend stealth intake and a set of the early powerheads?

I've run Comp Xtreme 268 cam on two engine combinations with great success and would get one again except it doesn't look like they have a roller cam with the same duration lift as that. I understand the rollers change things up a little, but I have no idea what I should be looking for. The Ford cams advertise equal intake and exhaust duration and lift (228/228 .484/.484) I thought you wanted more exhaust duration and lift than you had at the intake. Am I wrong? Does that change for a roller engine?

I also need to ask about my flywheel, it's used off a 90 5.0. I got it when I bought a T5 years ago. I had the balance matched to my current engine, and slapped it on. No problems were had with the starter, so I assume that somehow it worked with my 73 auto starter. My car's a 73 BTW. I've been looking for a replacement and it looks like for the 351w I need a 28oz weighted one, but how many teeth?

Oh and what length push rods will I need for that roller cam?I'm slappin in a new shortblock.

I think I like this trick flow cam. It's got a little more lob separation and it's only 159 from summit. I'd probably get 1.7 rockers though.

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=TFS-51402000&autoview=sku

Duration at .50 221°/225°

Lift .499/.510 with 1.6 rockers

Separation 112°

I wanted to keep the lift down on the combo I've thrown together.

Any ideas about the flywheel? Can I just get the one I've got turned and rebalanced at the machine shop?

I'd like to get one o them SFI approved flywheels, maybe even an aluminum one, but whew the price for those is like wow.

I'm using a 50 oz billit flywheeel and sfi balancer. I know it came with a 28 oz, but you can use 50 oz as long as you use them for both.

Those weights should match the crank as well.

You can have the flywheel surfaced and rebalanced.

I did this with mine, and it has worked quite well. I think it was about $80 for the rebalance.
Of course, it would be much better to have the entire rotating assy balanced together.

The 351w requires a 28oz balance on the damper and flywheel.

I am heavily considering these as well for my 410w build.

Also on the list of considerations...
Comp cams XFI stroker cams
An update of the custom cam I designed a few years ago (it ran fairly well)

I had everything balanced together. The stroker crank, pistons & rods, balancer and flywheel.

yeah, that's the way to do it.

I guess when the shortblock arrives I could pull the rotating assembly and take it to the machine shop. Na that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, at least with me working on it.

cammotion just have a custom cam cut, instead of settling for an off the shelf grind. Get one that will work with your mods.

its prob just as cheap if not less than a comp off the shelf grind. about 130 for a custom cut cam
