I'm looking to fix up my cooling system this spring. I have some questions.
I'd like to replace some of the hoses that go to the radiator. The hoses I'd like to replace are the upper radiator and lower radiator hoses.
What do you call the hose that goes from the water-pump to the thermostat housing???????????????????
Are there any other critical hoses towards the front of my fox that I should be replacing while I'm at these ones? I'm not keen on replacing the likes of the heater core hoses etc etc, just the main ones near the front of the engine.
At peak operating temps on my fox, my Autometre guage will show that my car is at 209 degrees. I'm assuming my thermostat is a 195 degree stocker. My engine is mildly cammed with NO pulleys and I'm wondering if I should replace the thermostat with a 180 degree? Would dropping from a 195 to a 180 make my car run that much cooler but too rich seeing as I have a larger cam shaft????????? How would my emissions suffer with a lower 180 degree thermo????? We've got emissions testing her in Ontario and I can't really afford to be running too rich.
Is my current 209 degrees pretty much acceptable, or am I too hot?
Lastly, I understand the concept of "burping" the system upon refilling the car with coolant to get rid of any air-pockets, however, how the heck do I actually do this procedure?
