need help deciding on efi or carb.

It's probably more of a personal preference decision than anything. I like efi. You can get a GT-40 intake off of an old lightning and have the lower ported to match the heads. If you do that I believe you will have to have the computer out of the truck also, but I'm not for sure. Carb would probably be cheaper and build just as much power but efi is real nice. Wish I knew more that could help but good luck w/ the swap.

i vote carb. modifying a carb'ed car is 50x cheaper and produces just as good of results of an EFI car... imagine later on if you try to add like a 50 shot to it... you'd need some larger injectors which alone will run you over $200... aftermarket upper and lower manifolds will run you over $500 for something decent...when you mod the car you'll have to get it professionally tuned and most likely a chip will be in order to modify the stock computer settings, etc etc...which can go over $300 for a tune dyno and chip burn. when you could just change the carb jets for like $20... heh.

I went carbed

Just because of money, though the stuff still isnt cheap depending on what you buy. I already had a 303rwhp 302, but couldnt reuse any of my efi stuff for what power level I'm looking at. I would have had to re-buy injectors, maf,tb, and still done the fuel system. FYI, i'm doing a 418 stroker and spent the following: $289 for super victor intake,$300 for msd distributor to fit super victor intake,$705 for 1000cfm demon (not spent yet, next on list), fuel system is going to run around $800-$900, cheaper than efi system, and i'm doing it right. Just a comparo, I'm looking at around 600fwhp, so a less horsepower motor will need smaller parts wich equals smaller cash hemorage. Good luck, you probally wont be upset either route you choose. One more FYI, I was on a budget when I started, take what you're planning on spending and...........................tripple it :rlaugh:
