HI EVERYONE
I would really appreciate it if someone could be of assistance. I own a 1994 Ford Mustang GT V8 5.0. I’ve modified the car with heads, intake, TB, 24lb injectors, mass air (calibrated for 24lb injectors), everything (no supercharger). I did keep the stock cam for drivability issues. The car ran great; I ran a diagnostic and no codes showed up.
Recently, the car started running pretty bad. I though it might be an ignition problem, so i changed the Ignition Control Module ( ICM ) with a JEGS unit. That wasn't the problem. I put it on a diagnostic machine, and received codes 157 (Mass Air Flow signal low or grounded), code 212 (Ignition TACH signal was erratic or SPOUT circuit fault) as well as 136 (oxygen sensor lean bank 1). Can you please inform me of how to resolve the issue with codes 157 and 212 and what do they mean? Why would the voltage be low?? I don’t know where to start. While the engine is idling, if I disconnect the Mass Air the engine begins to run better, if I reconnect the idle drops and runs bad. Do I need a new MAF?? BAP sensor?? PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!
If you can help please email at [email protected]
thanks

Here is one of best tools available for working on these cars. Its the very first one on top.

Your MAF sensor is prolly bad. But it could be a wire in that circuit or the computer itself causing you problems. I would fix that code first and then reset the puter. Its prolly ok to drive it if you need it with the sensor unplugged. If you have a digital volt/ohm meter and that book it will walk you through testing each circuit. The codes only lead you to a particular circuit. Its really cheaper to buy the book. Throwing parts at these things is expensive. I know, I have many spares that are good. If you have a bud with a MAF he will loan you, you can swap and test that way. I take it yours may be calibrated different from a stock one so that may not be the way to go. Good luck. Sorry that link didnt work. Here is the book I have, and many other here swear by it too.

I had some driveability issues and turned out to be maf, had same simptoms. I would maybe replace injectors w/the stock 19's so you can put your stock maf back on, see if it helps w/some of the driveability, or if you know anyone that has a maf cal for 24lb, you could put that on also. Also, if you have a spout code, maybe pull the spout while idleing and see if the car changes, to see if the spout is working correctly.

what's up guys!!

Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it. I'll try to change the mass air meter. There goes another $300 on credit card bill!!!!
Again, I appreciate it.
thanks
