Need more traction, where did I go wrong?

Street tires are pretty much useless for launch. A balance between feathering the clutch and applying the gas is what you need. I suggest getting a cheap set of wheels and installing some DR's on them for the track. I haven't broken my MT's loose yet.

You're not spinning 2nd, maybe 1-2 shift, not all the way through 2nd. My car barely does that on 275dr's so I doubt your car can with 315 streets. However, that is with warm tires. If you're talking about sub 40 degree temps outside, then yeah that sucks - just wait for warmer weather.

Control arms won't really effect traction too much, mostly its tires, driving style (revving up, dumping the clutch = no traction), and THEN suspension tweaking.

Went to the track, 30% humidity, 35-40 degrees, heated tires pretty good. Dead hooked tires, broke loose in 1st at about 4500-5000. A little spin in 2nd.
So I ran a 13.814 @ 105.2

r/t 0.100
60ft 2.176
330 6.008
1/8 9.075
mph 80.42
1000 11.656
1/4 13.814
mph 105.2

I think I had some wheel hop. I plan on putting in some new quadra shocks, they are removed for now. I also ran 25 psi. What do yall think? Should I lower the pressure some more? What about 20 psi? Is that too low?

You just need a set of Drag Radials is you want to hook at the track. Best I can pull on street tires is a 2.08 60 but with Drag radials, a small burn out and a 3k rpm launch it will pull a very consistent 1.86 on 100% stock suspension.

Street tires are for mileage not traction. Just my .02.....

+1

Lowering the pressure in street radials really doesn't do much as far as traction off the line goes. Drag radials also don't like low pressure too much. Bias ply drag tires are cool with low pressures though! :nice:

its his tq that is breaking the tires in second. when i shift to second im all over the road and if i keep my foot in it, ill spin prob. about half way through second. never tried it though on the street. my tires suck though....and he has like 40rwtq on me.
