I failed the Test Only Smog Test last week. I failed the NO(ppm) part. Here where the results,
15mph Max is 785 and I got 1328
25mph Max is 724 and I got 730

So I put on a New IAC Valve, EGR Valve, O2 Sensors and backed the Timing Back to 10deg.

Well, today I went and had a pre test smog check done and here where those results,
NO(ppm)
15mph was 1073
25mph was 719
And my HC(ppm)
15mph Max is 114 and I got 191
25mph Max is 88 and I got 91

So I failed the 15 mph NO(ppm) and both parts of the HC(ppm) as to where the 1st time I passed the HC(ppm). I dont know what else to do except put back on the stokcer 4 cat h-pipe. Right now I have a 2 cat Mac high flow h-pipe. The shop I took the car to today did a diagnostic check on the car and found nothing wrong with it. They said it was highly moded and needed to be put back to stock form. They took only a look at my car and didnt want to figure out what was cauing my car to fail. What else can I do?

Your dilemma sounds exactly (#'s and all on both of your pre test) like the same problem I had in May when I tried to mine smogged. :bang:

The technician who tested my car B] all 3 times [/B] has been doing testing for over 10 yrs and I've known him since he started in the business. He tried to do a few things such as changing the timing, idle, etc., to help me pass but no luck. After the first test he told me that he felt the cats were the problem (stock cat w/ 186K on them) and I needed new ones so he felt.
I changed the exact same things that you have and went back for my second test, same problem as you again.
I bought new catted exhaust system (Magnaflows X pipe w/ cats) and went for a third test. Yep you got it passed with flying colors.
As I said I’ve known the technician for over 10 yrs so he didn’t look at the Magnaflow system and his machine didn’t know the difference. :D

I'm not saying go out and buy new cats; all I'm saying is try putting on your old stock 4 catted system to see if you’ll pass instead of spending any more money.
