folks i am trying to put my front end back together on my 65. this is the first time i have attempted a job this big, i have my upper and lower control arms bolted on and the spindle in place i next put the spring perches on do i at this time go ahead an compress the coil spring and put in?. do i need to install the shock and bolt it to the spring perch before i release the tension off the coil spring. this is the part where i'm confused.what would be the order that i need to do all this in? thanks for any help ya'll can offer. wendell.

Yes. Compress the spring and put it in. If you have outside compressors then you may be able to put the shock in before you take the compressors off (not sure about that though). If you have an inside compressor you'll have to put something under the lower control arm and let the weight of the car down on it and then take the compressor off. You are ready to install the shock next. After you install the shock you can jack your car back up and install the wheel.

Be very careful with compressed springs. I know from experience.
