Current mods:

  • Aftermarket shorty headers (i believer there mac, they came with the car when i bought it)
  • Offroad H-pipe
  • CAI kit
  • UD pullies
  • Flowmaster exhuast (not sure, but i believe there the 40 Series Delta Flow)
  • 3.73 gears
  • Fluidyne Radiator

Ok, This is what im planning to do this summer

  • Trickflow H/C/I kit (track heat intake) (probably will sell cam for an FTI cam)
  • FTI cam by ed (listed above..)
  • Throttle Body elbow
  • Walbro 190lph Fuel pump
  • Kirban Adjustable FPR
  • 70mm Throttle body (not sure on brand yet)
  • 24lb injectors
  • (not sure on the mass air to go with, need suggestions)
  • Probably a king cobra clutch (since i need to change my leaky rear main seal)

Im pretty sure i didnt list everything that I'll need, but i have a few questions

-I've read we have to get a 3/8 in spacer for the elbow to fit, and this will require the hood blanket to be taken off to work correctly? Is this right, and im assuming it wont hit stock hood if we take blanket off right?

-Wasn't sure on the throttle body size, whether a 65,70, or 75 (opening of the intake). Also any brand suggestion would be a big help (was thinking bbk but have read of some problems with them)

-Will the 190lhp fuel pump be suffiecient or no?

-Will 24#s be suffiecient? (ive read of some people saying 30's... but ive read of driveablitly problems with 30's as well)

-Do you recomend a AFPR?

-Any suggestions for the mass air is appreciated.

-I will prolly have to get a tune if i do all this, right?

I know I've got some research i need to do still, but any help is greatly appreciated. (if i think of more stuff ill post later cause i have to go to work soon)

Thanks guys,
David

if you are getting a tune then go with 30's and a pro-m from anderson ford.

70mm t/b should be fine.

afpr---not needed with a tune

if you are buying a fuel pump just get the 255

dunno on the spacer as i run a cobra intake.

last but not least---i WILL get flamed for this but oh well---i cannot justify the extra cost of a custom cam for this setup. the tfs1 cam is a good cam and will meet your goals with ease. yes a custom cam may get you some better numbers, but are those meager numbers worth the extra money that could be used on something like l/t headers?

The intake spacer not the elbow is what I think your referring to.....I have the HCI Track heat and my blanket is still on.....
AFPR is a must/ or maybe not w/tune
go with a 255 lph .....not much more in price than the 190....leaves room down the road....
I run 24's fine but some peeps state you should go with 30's
BBK or Ford 65mm throttle body should be all you need...that's what my tuner said after I bought a cheaper Professional Products TB...and have some troubles with at beginning..
You will for sure need a tune for driveability issues or to get the most out of the combo......or Tweecer RT if you want to self tune
Make sure you know your injector size your going to run before buying the MAF..........

I do agree with Ben on the cam......the cam with the kit is fine for what you are planning to build.......

The trickflow heads need stud mount rockers, so you need those plus taller valve covers to clear the rockers, which means you need a 3/8" intake spacer, or you can grind on your egr and iac valve (bad idea).

The spacer means you will need an EGR tube extender (5.0 resto) which is cheap.

Thanks for the help so far guys...

I have a few more questions

-Alot of you say just go 255lph, is it putting more of a load on the electrical system sending that bigger volume of fuel constantly?

-Do you think i can get the professional products throttle body elbow, along with the egr adapter (the one off 5.0 resto) and everything will line up right? 100 bucks (about) for the trickflow elbow is a bit much for my taste as im trying to keep spending down... (regardless some things arent cheap)

-For the mass air, i think im gonna go with a C&L Kit. It comes with a k&n filter, heat shield, the 76mm mass air (with 24# injectors, which is what i think im gonna go with), and the true flow inlet tube. It really depends on how much i can get it for, im gonna look around. (i know some people talk bad about C&L and some talk good, so opinions are welcome)C&L kit
I think it will also cut down on heat being brought in (the CAI i have now is awefully close to the alternator and motor, drawing heat to the tube, and this one seems further away)

-I will get a tune, either getting a tweecer rt, and learn (which will take a while), or get it tuned... Problem is i dont know anywhere around here (im in hampton roads area of VA) that will give me a good tune at a good price (ive heard some stories about people getting bad tunes, which i dont want to happen)

-I have a set of caster/camber plates (4 bolt Maximum Motorsports plates) that will be going on as well during this summer, and was wondering (since the factory strut tower brace wont clear the intake) should i go with the BBK or maximum motorsport brace. BBK is a little cheaper but will it clear the plates? (probably a dumb question but want to make sure)

Thanks alot, you all have helped a ton already

It is, but I would assume it to be negligent; Especially compared to the 50 amps drawn from the electric fan..lol. Don't worry about it and just get it.

I cannot comment on the PP adapter. One would assume it works; Maybe someone else can comment on this. You can find them on ebay for around 60 usually. There are plenty other manufactures

I got the C&L cal'ed to 30lb injectors, and I had to lean the transfer curve 15% across the board so the car would even accellerate at WOT. It was running extremely rich. I highly recommend NOT getting the c&l and get a Pro-M

The tweecer rt has a slight learning curve, but if you can do your own h/c/i, you can learn the tweecer. It is not difficult, just a lot of information that is not necessarily packaged well. The manual is very good, but even it has some gaps. The tweecer allows you to make any changes that your mind can thick of. If you injector duty cycle is getting too high, and you want to switch to 30's or 36's, you can do it with a couple simple keystrokes.

no idea

Have you considered going with a Fox TB setup? Since you are thinking of eliminating the EGR, and to run taller valve covers, and since you're buying a TB anyway, it would seem like a logical choice.

well i was actually trying to keep the egr

hmm i thought some people were gonna say that about the C&L meters... only thing is the pro-m's are expensive....

For the injectors would you guys suggest ford racing, or go with another brand... (i was gonna go with the ford injectors but just read somewhere about to accels, any ideas on that?)

Thanks much for the help guys

I think i left out one MAJOR detail though, and id like to know what you guys think... Im going for 300+hp at the rear wheels... think this combo can get me there? (5 speed, syncromesh in tranny, and mobile 1 synthetic in rear end /////i know it doesnt make too much of a diffrence but im sure it frees up a little bit of hp going to the wheels\\\\)

Anyways, thanks alot guys (again feel free to suggestion parts to me)

David

From what I've heard C&L are very hit and miss. Try to find a used Pro-M 77mm on here or Corral. Supposedly the 77mm and up are more accurate than the 75mm bullet, although the 75mm will do (it's what I currently have). I'd go with FRPP injectors, but have also heard good things about Accel. I guess it comes down to price.

And with a custom cam and a 5 speed I think you'll make it to the 300rwhp mark.
