last time I went to the dyno I was running wayyyy rich...had a 10.9:1 a/f ratio at WOT and I put down 229/266...yesterday I went back to have the pull some fuel out of it and they figured they would in the process add 2 degrees of timing...so now running properly on the loaded MUSTANG dyno I put down 240 rwhp and 277 rwtq...not bad for my mods I would say...

I forgot I had a question to make this thread tech related and that is that the readings that we got for a/f this time were much better so we added a little timing and now it pings if it is above say 70 outside...the timing we added was very minimal and should not have caused the engine to ping as it did...so I am wondering since this seems to be temperature related (hot weather pinging) should I be looking at my ACT and ECT sensors or are we talking more likely ignition/fuel related?? My tuner says that I would be (99% certain) throwing a CE light if the sensors were to blame...

Chung may be right, however sensors are tricky. By this, I mean that they can be on the fritz but still sending requisite signals to the ECU. If the sensor in question is fouled or wearing out but still is doing it's job (albeit not well), the ECU will not throw a code. I would replace any suspect sensors as a starting point. They are pretty cheap.

Check out this thread. He replaced his ACT and ECT sensors, and his pinging came back. Ended up it was a vacuum leak. Good luck

EDIT: Woops, forgot the link, lol.

well the pinging is gone because I backed the timing back down to 10 degrees but I want to run more timing...I think I should be able to...I mean 12 degrees oughtta be safe so I would think that a sensor is on its last legs... if the sensors were in tip top shape I would think they could handle this small increase in timing...i don't know...
