Hi. I'm new to the forum. I'm a grandpa getting back onto the track on weekends and have built my first mod motor in my 2000GT. I finished it in time for two weekend test'n'tune runs and got a 12.09/115mph with my 2v. I've been participating in another forum, but have to read through a lot of smack and trash talk before getting many serious answers to my questions. I'm checking to see if the info is better here and what the "jerk count" is. I've got one now in the Tech section r.e. oversize valves in PI heads. We'll see how it goes.

I think this is one of the best stang sites overall. I go to other sites for technical stuff or pictures/videos, but Stangnet is where I go for everything first. You'll get "jerks" everywhere but I think the jerk-count is kinda low here. So we need some pics of your car and more info. Nice times BTW.

At least it's more erect and not floppy anymore.

Thanks! That's already better than what I'm used to. I'll try to figure out how to post a sig pic here and describe my setup. I may need one of my kids to help me. I'm 58 yrs old; six kids, 5 G'kids. Time to get back on the streets/strip. I have a 2000GT (only 18K miles), 4.6 2V, alum. Cobra block, Cobra crank, Eagle h-rods, Probe forged 17cc dished pistions, ARP studs, P1SC Procharger with 3.1" pulley making 11-12# boost, Bullitt intake manifold/TB, SCT 3000BA MAF, K&N CAI, MSD Stacker ignition, Siemens Deka 60lb injectors, billet fuel rails, 8N>6N Aeromotive returned steel braided fuel system, '03-'04 Cobra dual fuel pump/fuel tank, BBK lt's, BBK short h-pipe, Borla cat-back exhaust, UPR upper/lower control arms, Mac rearend cover, welded subframes and some other stuff. It looks "Grandma" stock.
I'm taking the engine out again now. I only ran it for two weekends after rebuilding it and tuning before the track closed for the season, but the T45 is not apparently strong enough now. I'm looking for the best deal on TKO-500. I'm installing some new shelf grind VT blower cams and springs w/ titanium retainers. And (the subject of my post elsewhere) putting in larger (46.8mm) stainless intake valves in my ported and polished PI heads. (When I get my info from these readers!)

Yeah, but since I'm from the 60's and those pushrosd muscle cars, I was surprised how much mod-motor parts cost! Man!!

yeah, that's something you can expect. Nice thing is though, there are lots of them out there so there's a huge used market. Try corral.net's classifieds for any part's you wanna buy and dont mind them being used

Welcome from :SNSign:

You'll get the odd smart assed remark here, but don't take it to heart. It's all in good fun for the most part and we've got a pretty good group of guys in this section to help you out with your queries. And as timeless2 stated, we (the staff) drop the axe on the trouble makers fairly quickly here.....so have fun.

Thanks. I can take it (and give it), but its just a waste of time when you want to learn something. It's already better. Thanks!

Hey Gramps- You and I are close to the same age. My first couple of posts, a few weeks back, were chastised by a couple of know-it alls and I almost left. It settled down a little bit and those couple of Know-it-alls have not really bothered me since. It's like you have to prove you know something. As in mosts cases, know-it-alls know very little. They just shoot from the hip. But for the most part, there are good guys here.

Yeah, I have kids the age of most of these guys! It doesn't matter the age though. People are people. You've got old wise guys and young wise guys. I will just let the lights at the end of the strip do my talking for me on Fridays and Saturdays. I get along great with them. My two sons (in their 20's) can't believe it when they come home and go to the track with their dad and most of my friends are guys their age! They say....... "that just ain't right!"
