Ok.. i'm new to the domestic world. I have an '02 GT. I've seen Mustangs out there where it says Cobra on the rear bumper and from what i understand, they're supercharged. Now i've also see mustangs with the word Bullit or bullet or something like that badged on the rear end and last i've heard the word rouche or something like that here. What's the difference? I did a quick search but didn't find much to satisfy my confusion... can anyone shed some light ont he subject??

not all cobras are supercharged, and unfortunately there are people who put those emblems on a car that isnt what the emblem says, 03/04 cobras are DANGEROUS (meaning if youre racing them with a GT)
The Bullit was a special production car that was based off a Steve McQueen movie, and Roush and Saleen are two disributors who add style and handling AND performance (depending on the stage or model respectively)... search Cobra, Roush, Jack Roush, Saleen, Bullit... you will find what you need to know

The cobra mustang is produced from a ford factory by the Special Vehicle Team and from 96 to 04 is powered by the 4.6L DOHC motor.

The bullitt is a special edition GT and like our GT's is powered by the 4.6L SOHC motor and is also made in a ford factory.

A Roush or Saleen is a seperate company from ford. They buy GT's or sixers and add superchargers, suspension, body kits etc etc.

EDIT sorry mypont I was typing when you posted.

Wow. Theres just too much info for someone who knows NOTHING about Mustangs. Instead of typing a HUGE novel, here's some links you might want to check out:

Roush Mustangs
Not factory Ford cars. Roush Performance is a tuner who modifies mustangs and seels them as Roush certified cars

http://www.fnsweet.com/about/index.shtml

Saleen Mustangs
Not factory Ford cars. Just like with Roush, Saleen is a tuner who modifies Mustangs and sells them as Saleen certified Mustangs.

http://www.saleen.com/about_saleen.htm

Bullitt Mustangs
Factory Ford cars. Bullitts are GT's Mustangs modified from the factory. THe Bullitt edition Mustang is a commemorative mustang in tribue to the late Steve McQueen movie "Bullitt". They were only made in 2001 and were ONLY offered in true blue, black, and dark highland green.

http://www.imboc.com/main/

Mach 1 Mustang
Factory Ford cars. Mach 1 Mustangs were built by Ford from 2003 to 2004. They are special edition Mustangs commemorating the early Mach 1 Mustangs of the 60's and 70's. They have a completely different engine than GT Mustangs and are much more powerful.

http://www.mach1registry.com/Specs/Specs.htm

Cobra Mustangs
Factory Ford cars built by Ford's High-Performance devision called SVT (Special Vehicle Team). The Cobra debuted in 1993. These cars featured a much more powerful engine than the GT Mustang.

I hope that helps

Pitch Black,

First off.. that was a good movie.. heh.. secondly.. your post helped greatly. Thank you very much.. i was curious if i'd be able to take my GT and make it into a Bullit or Mach 1 or Cobra... your post clarified up a few things... I'm sure i could do it.. but probably wouldn't be cost effective. I'd probably get more bang for my buck if i just concentrated on making my GT faster right? meaning.. there are parts that i could put on my GT that is better than the Bullit, Cobra or Mustang counter part right? or do i have my facts out of whack?

You can make ANY car as fast as you want, given that you have the $$$ to do it.

You can certianly make it look more like any of the variations. I just pick what ideas I like, maybe do a little photoshop work to see how they work with the rest of the car and eithr do it or dont. Some thing like changing the GT motor for a Cobra just wouldnt be very cost effective. You would do better to buy a cobra than swap engines into a GT.

At least thats how I feel about it.

Oh yeah, weren't Bullits only built for one year or so? 01 maybe?

Here are some questions to keep in mind when figuring out your mods:

1. Is it for the strip, the track, or the street?
2. Do you have any HP or ET goals?
3. What kind of budget do you have, and can you do the work yourself?
4. Are you willing to give up some looks and comfort for performance?
5. Do you have any mods now?

I'm sure there are other questions, but these will help to give you more specific answers.
