That looks like the same blue that I just bought at Rural King. Maybe.
I encountered 3 different Ford blues this past week.
Mine may be a tad darker. RK didn't have Ford Corporate (dark) blue.

This is a 65 so it will actually be black . The shop wasn't supposed to paint the block but did anyway. I use motorcycle engine case paint ,it stays on forever .

We finally get time between us to finish up the motor and i dont believe this crap! Finally got the correct rod and main bearings ,crank sat right in ,torqued to specs and i can easily turn by hand ,now for the pistons ,we go to install the rings and ...wrong rings ! To thick for the pistons! Holly crap! So we decide to go ahead and install the cam ,goes right in easily ...untill the last bearing ! What the hell! I take the cam out thinking it may be the front bearing so I put the cam front in backwards and the first bearing goes right in ,that means its the last bearing in the block! It hits solid wont even start in ! Now I am hoping i can pull out the cam plug and knock out the last bearing and install a new one from the back end ,may be wishful thinking but we will see . I don't have a clue what the machine shop did ,mushroomed the bearing ,cocked it in who the hell knows but it time for a new machine shop thats for damn sure! I am going to knock out the cam plug and try inserting the back end of the cam into that bearing just to see if it will go in just that last bearing .

Can someone one please explain this to me ,I have never seen it before!
I took a wood dowl and ran it through the block and knocked out the cam plug . Looks like someone stuck somthing in the bearing and lifted the block ,screwed the cam bearing big time . Looks like i can replace it through the back and install a new cam plug ,50 years of working on cars and I have never seen anything like it . It was done at the machine shop!

Are all cam bearing journals the same diameter? I may not be using the correct word. Not the rotating supports part of the cam but actually were the bearing goes? So, any of the bearings could go in any spot? I've never installed any cam bearings. I've always had the "old school" machinist do it for me but none of them are still walking the earth.

I believe they are different ,but the smallest one should be the last one ,this bearing is beat up like they used the wrong install tool or put somthing in the back of the block to move it after the bearing was installed . I should be able to tell once I knock the old one out

Nick came out today and we sanded the under side ,the inside and inside outside of the engine compartment ,somtime tomorrow i will spray the brown epoxy and it will finally come off the rotisserie.
The rings made it in yesterday ,still waiting on cam bearings and push rods and we can finish up the motor .

I'm thinking on mine of going ahead and do the finish paint on the bottom before it comes off of the rotisserie. I was thinking full poppy red since it is not going to be a concours restoration. If I had money to burn, even do the Shelby stripes on the bottom or would that be too much?
Something like this on the motorcycle engine paint? PJ1 Powersports engine paint
For the Epoxy primer are you using the Ditzler DP series or Summit? In the past we've mixed one red component with black to make a chocolate color of primer and more recently with the Summit Epoxy primer mix a gray kit with black to have our own custom Epoxy dark gray primer color.

After a couple days baking in the sun that primer takes on the perfect look! I hate to be the one that has to take this primer off some day because it is baked on and hard as a rock!

We are going to attempt to get this motor together today! Just have to knock out that last cam bearings and install a new one first.

Well , wound up knocking out all the cam bearings and replacing them ,not only was the last bearing screwed the middle one was too!. I did not have the tool to knock them in or out so most of my time went into chucking up a harbor freight bearing race tool and turning it down to fit .
Pistons went in super easy and you could spin the crank with ease after it was all torqued down .
Found out we were short intake bolts ,oil pan bolts and the crank key way and the roller type fuel pump eccentric ,I will order all Monday.
The oil pan is held on with a couple of bolts ,the intake is just setting there and a couple of bolts holding the valve covers on just to keep out any dust and I covered it up again .
