NITTO 555R'S

Are these tires any good how are they on the street & track ,how are they on fox bodies . Are anyone using them if so your imput would help, Thanks

They are sweet, alot of people on here have them on their stangs, they last about 15000 miles depending on how you drive, they also grip the road like a MOFO

my normal Nitto 555s hook better than my worn et streets so i would think the 555r's would hook up nicely

I loved my 555's on my 01 when I had them, u can really tell the difference in handling imo.

agreed, the 555's were one of the best tires i had, until drilled the biggest pot-hole known to man... say hello to 2 new rims and Pirelli P Zero Nero's which now are the best tires i have ever ran.

I run 275/40R17 Nitto 555R Drag Radials on 17x9 Cobra R wheels. The difference between them and regular tires was night and day. I used to spin through second and could spin quite a bit into third if I shifted hard. First gear was usless. Now, I can nail it in first and it will just launch. They don't make the difference at the track they do on the street, but they hook hard. Also, if Nitto's spin a little, they will just dig in, while normal tires once they break loose, they don't recover.

I will put out a warning that these tires hydroplane easy. They are supposed to be the most streetable of the other drag radials, but make no mistake these were designed for dry roads. They will hook on the wet street, but once you get any speed, they hydropain. My car isn't a daily driver, and I don't think I would put them on a daily driver, some may dispute that but last night I got caught in the rain and had to drive 35mph the whole way back.

They only hydroplane easily if your driving faster than the conditions permit...or if you have wore out the treads.

Any tire is going to hyrdoplane at excessive speeds. Nitto's just happen to do it a bit easier.

I can clip along at 75mph in steady rain with no problems. In heavy rain, you shouldnt be going that fast no matter what tire you have.

I daily drive mine 30 miles one way to work, rain or shine. If your hydroplaneing, your driving to fast...plain and simple.

Yes, less sidewall won't allow the tire to squat down and get as much as a contact patch.

My buddy went from 315/35R17 BFG DR's on 17x11 ZR1 wheels to 265/60R15 Nitto 555 DR's on 15x10 Weld Pro-stars. The 265's are alot thinner, but he can hook so much harder.

I love my 555r Nittos, night and day difference on the street. Shifting hard into second is useless on street tires, these Nittos give a little bark if that's all i want and then hook, I can still break them loose but it's much harder to do than before i got them.

I second that; I have 245/40/18's out back and they're really not that impressive.
