A bad or varnished shift valve (three to four) can cause issues kinda like you describe.

As suggested, dont drive around in OD anyhow (edit: Unless cruising at a steady and decent rate).

yeah im not. no point since i do most of my driving in heavy traffic.

I miss my C4 in my 86. even with the lack of over drive in my 86 i got 220 miles to the tank and i remember the 86 having something like a 11 gallon tank.

when i redo the engine and tranny im going with the C4
