Novi 1000, to buy or not to buy...

Ok, I've been researching Turbos, but they are PRICEY! Cha Ching $$. I just can't find that kind of cash or credit... but.....

I can get a Paxton Novi 1000 set up for $1,750 from a factory dealer, not ebay. Hmmm brand new, warrenty, just have to install it. I'm starting to get a drool going here. I'm up to my ears in credit for all the stuff I already installed, and hefty car payments for that 01 Explorer I bought. So money is a little tight... but for the price I'm definitely getting tempted...

So, if you have one of these PLEASE give me some feedback! Would you buy it again if you had it to do over? There aren't very many reviews of this on Stangnet but what's there looks promising.

Any other opinions are welcome! Thoughts, comments?

It can be had for $1640. Do you drive the car all year long? I was told not to run one in under 25* temps because extreme cold can damage the unit.

I love mine. I just got done smoking a vette the other day. My motor is all stock and I am running the stock boost (6psi). The car moves pretty good. I cant believe what a bang for the buck these things are. They come with so many goodies compared to the other entry blower kits. Get it, youll be happy.

EDIT- i see that you are running AFR heads. Youll be in the 11s with this blower no sweat.

Do a web search for the Novi. There is an entire forum just for Novi users and it has tons of info for you to look at.

A friend and I put one on a 93 cobra and with a power pipe and f-150 pulley it made 10 psi.

Well, in a way I don't mind charging a little more to get some more fun out of my baby. Once I got out of the Military I took a Goverment Internship and in October I get a serious pay raise, and a year after that I get another very serious pay raise! It's still going to take me a long time to pay off my debts though, no doubt.

Nope, not a daily driver, but I still drive it a LOT just for FUN!!!

Ok, now cevtv big question: WHERE did you see it for $1,640???????

the f-150 pulley trick is only on the old single belt N1ks. On the new ones youll need a vortech renegade crank pulley with a power pipe to see 10 psi.

Cannot argue with that logic. No sense in paying interest that you could be putting towards other parts later on. I would wait and pay your other bills first, regardless of how much/little they are.

Sorry to be off topic but I agree. 1650 is not hard to save up and the blower will still be around. When you do get it, it will be more than worth the wait.

Yes, I should wait... I'm sure I can save up enough to get it for next Spring. Of course this means that I'll be sucking the tail pipes of my buddy all this summer.

Did I mention that I have a buddy that has almost the same Stang I have with almost all the same mods? Well he wanted to toast me and he's finally done it, 347 stroker long block. Since I've got better heads I'm not far behind him, but until I do something, (S/C being the cheapest, since I'll never use nitrous), my Stang will sucking his wind... grrrrrrrrrrrr

So that should explain why I've been so temped to charge....

I second that! Full boost @ 2000rpm will sure surprise those ricecars.....and Vettes.

Really, the N1000 seems to be a good blower. I havent heard anything bad about it yet or Vortechs for that matter(except maybe shredding belts when you're making 15psi on a little 8 rib...).
