Anyone switched from an off-road pipe to a hi-flow pipe.....i may go to a hi-flow pipe to stay somewhat legal....what was the power difference and sound difference like? Was it even noticable?
i went from a mac o/r-h to a bbk catted-h on my old lx. it quieted it down a bit, though it was already pretty quiet because of the 50series flows. i hadnt had the car for more than a couple weeks before i made the switch, so i cant really tell any performance difference, but it didnt feel any different to me. personally, id avoid the bbk unit though, it was a pita to get in there and it seemed to pull the catback towards the front of the car. im going to go with a mac hiflow-h here in the next few weeks, hopefully it installs a little easier.
yea i was also considering the prochamber.....i hear it sounds pretty bad ass with flows......anybody running the prochamber with hi-flow cats? opinions? thanks
I went from stock H, to catted bbk X, to o/r bbk X, the difference from 4 cats to 2 cats is much less than from 2 cats to no cats. Its a big difference.
On my old 89' GT I went from a hi-flow catted h-pipe to a off road h-pipe and didn't notice any difference at all. I wish I would have stayed with the catted h-pipe because after the switch you could smell the exhaust fumes while sitting in traffic. It got real annoying after a while.
when I idle in an enclosed drive-through entrance (IE: no way out ), I can literally call it every time - people will roll up their windows because they start to choke on my fumes. Not to mention how loud it is with no cats.
One time a guy actually got out of his car after I sat in one spot for five minutes and came up to my window, and he started bitching me out for how loud/smelly my car was (the drive through was having problems making the food, so we were waiting for awhile.
After listening to him bitch, I rolled up my window while revving the **** out of my engine and mouthing the words "I can't hear you". Oh man, it was such a smart ass thing to do, but I was smiling for like 10 minutes after it happened.
I would not bother with a catted h-pipe just seeing as how expensive they are... have you considered catting your off-road h? That's what I did... worked out pretty well.
