I am looking to see if I can fix a problem I have been having in reflecting the true mileage of my car. I swapped my gauge cluster when I changed my motor and sold the old cluster. I didn't have the wherewithal to take out the original odometer chip and the new cluster came with a chip that read 60,3XX miles on it.
I have the original mileage of the car recorded, along with the miles that have accured in driving it since I swapped the cluster.

My problem is that I obviously do not want to defraud anyone if I were to sell the car, but I would like to make things simple. I spoke to the MVA and they told me that they could issue a decal that I could put into the door to reflect the true mileage at the time of the swap. What I would like to do is just add the total mileage (new+old) onto the decal and start from 0 on the dash, that way a reasonable person would not have to use advanced math to figure out the true mileage.

Is there any legal place I can have this done? Can the dealer do this? Keep in mind that I want this to be 100% legal, simple and clean. Any suggestions?
