Official 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Thread

These races are much better then some of the boring ovals where the field is spread out and nothing happens for 400 laps, I dont mean accidents I mean good racing.

At least they are bumper to bumper here and driving for positions

I just feel bad for the fans that pay to attend that race. You can't even watch the entire race! At least with ovals, I can see the action the whole time.

There were a lot of cars booted. Even the 48 got into someone (blue deuce) but it was clearly not intentional. That 11 car was booting people every chance he got.

But boy, it was nice to see the 18 crumpled up at the end :D

It sucked for the 88 team since they were finally going to get a top 10 and were running well, but he got caught up in someone else ****.

How about the 47? He's been looking good all season. He's the rookie I root for this season. Sad thing is, I can't stand M Waltrip, but I like his drivers. I hope that by the 47 and 00 doing well, he'll hold up his promise and leave the 55 car :D

anyone catch the firecracker 400 saturday night? If you hate KyBu, then it was a great race :)

on a different note, with all the rumors of Danica jumping to Cup, I found this comment on some NASCAR blog:

I look for Hendrick to force Dale Jr and Brad K. to run for JR motorsports next year and Danica will take the 4th car at Hendrick. Stewart / Hass racing will add Kasey Kaine and Bud will come along as the sponsor. That should give Hendrick 9 full time cars almost a 1/4 of the field.

Did Busch get interviewed? I was curious to how he saw the crash. he definitely looked pretty upset when he was rerouted while walking to Victory Lane.

No, the commentators said he refused to comment on the incident. That was a great finish. I definitely think Busch got what he deserved. You can't block like that and not expect to get shoved out of the way. Busch would have done the same exact thing if he would have been in 2nd place.

no interview yet. I realllllllly wanted them to get him on camera. I read one story that said he was heading to VL to "speak" with Tony :rlaugh: and that the track officials were smart to, as COramprat said, "rerouted" him away.

That would have made for some great highlights, seeing not only KyBu's busted up crumpled car on the track, but his busted up face on TV after Stewie PooPoo sat on him while eating a whopper!

Mayfields statements make him appear to not be in full control of himself.

I figure Mayfiels would have stopped doing/taking whatever is making his screens come back positive.

...

In the article it states Mayfields screens are "random". WTF? The Judge ruled NASCAR can screen Mayfield any time they want, why is NASCAR trying to make it seem these tests are from out of the blue and Mayfield is being chosen by lottery or random pick-um device?

Ya think NASCAR is trying to shade Mayfields position to NASCARS favor? Ya Think?

....

"NASCAR is absolutely corrupted by power"

Ya Think?

Something I read in a previous article was NASCAR doesn't say what their screening for. In theory NASCAR could say they detected nicotine, tobacco is not the image we want to portray, your out of here!

So NASCAR doesn't say what their screening for. I call :bs: on that.

Far as corruption "That is what is killing the sport and why its a damn joke. ", I don't know if corruption is directly responsible, I think NASCAR being able to make decisions that can't be directly challenged, or even openly discussed, have allowed NASCAR to make some pretty crappy decisions.

That ability to not be questioned isn't necessarily Corruption, but it certainly is Authoritarianism.

I knew there was something wrong when I learned Ford developed the 427 Cammer for NASCAR and NASCAR banned the engine before it was out of testing, Hell, IIRC the Cammer was banned on sight!

no doubt. What's up with the stepmom? I guess she has control over his dad and he's doing nothing

or he really is an addict and she's trying to "help" him

I tend to belive Mayfield in this case and fully agree that Nascar has a hair across their ass and is looking at anyway to get Mayfield out of Nascar for whatever reason. I honestly cant stand the sport anymore b/c of how micro managed it is. Mike Helton can take his big fat ass and his 70's style **** moustache and kiss it.

This whole story is extremely odd. I don't know who to believe.

First, a good friend of mine failed a drug test for prescription Adderall. He failed for methamphetamine. He promptly went on his own and had a hair test. The hair test confirmed he was taking Adderall as prescribed. So, it is possible to be positive for methamphetamine's when taking Adderall.

I'm curious as to why a hair test has not been mentioned by either side. Hair test show a timeline (up to 90 days) and amounts. Much more accurate than urine tests.

The latest news from both NASCAR and Mayfield have me even more confused. Nascar claims he failed this latest test. Of course, they used the same lab. Now both side are arguing over where to have the B sample tested. Mayfield says he has zero trust in NASCAR and that he has been tested every 3-5 days since his first positive test...all negative.

The comments from his step-mom are pretty shocking. Even more shocking is Jeremy calling her a whore and a gold-digger. He went on to blame her for his fathers death and that he will bring a wrongful death suit against her.

I was doubting Mayfield until reading a recent article where his GM was interviewed. This GM was a former LEO, and testified in court that Mayfield has none of the signs of a drug abuser. He said he was with Mayfield 10-12 hrs per day for 5-6 days a week and never saw any of the typical signs.

One things for sure, this is going to get a lot interesting before the truth, or a least part of it, is out.

Your the Master of Understatement.

People have failed for over the counter cough syrup.

That would set a precedent, and can you think of a popular driver/ crew NASCAR may NOT want to hair test?

We'll be seeing the Mayfields on Jerry Springer?

Assuming Mayfield has the $$$$ to continue the fight.
