Stumbled accross a local dealer who was allocated 5 2005 GT's. They wanted MRSP, I did a little dealing (had another connection with another dealer who would order 06 for $500 over invoice). When I mentioned this other dealer and their offer, they immediately changed gears and matched this offer. The only catch from Ford is these 5 GT's have to appear at a couple of local shows and some test drives before I can take delivery, at the latest 8/1. I put $200 down with a promise from the sales manager if the car does not meet my standards (scratches, ect.), I can back out with a full refund. Car is black with crimson interior, IUP, wheel locks, auto, side air bags, S500, Ford upgraded alarm, all for $500 over invoice. They already gave me a price out the door.
What do you guys think, good deal? Or should I wait and order new and chance the nightmares I've heard about on this board? Thanks

Do you really want a new car that's been beat on by 100s of people at car shows? Are these shows the kind where hundreds of people show up and get to drive the cars around a parking lot track or something? If so, I'd pass on the deal, but that's just me.

You guys make a good point, but I've seen used 05's with up to 5,000 miles asking for over MRSP. I'm going to go to the other dealer Wednesday, if they really give me the deal they quoted, and a low priority #, then I'll back out of the first deal. I'm going to check on just what kind of test drives they really are giving (track vs casual). I live in the area so I can check it out for myself.
Kind of funny though, I had a buddy who used to work at a Ford dealership, they would take their friends out on SVT test drives and beat the ***** out of them. Yeah it's new.....57 miles.....hard miles, now please wipe that rubber of the fender, please! LOL
