OK to use prem. gas in 01 GT?

Hey All,
I have a bone stock 01 GT with 22,000 miles on it.My question is can i use 93 octane gas in it without messing anything up?Will it run any better than using reg gas?

Unless you've bumped the timing up, there is no real reason to go to the higher octane...and actually it won't perform as well with 93 octane as it does your regular octane fuel.

Exactly! If you don't mind paying higher gas priceses go ahead and use premium, there's no benifit

It is pointless to spend the extra money- just go with regular on your stock GT.

don't listen to these guys, go with 104 octane and you'll feel a difference

just messing though, I have heard of some potential benefits on a stock car.
A higher octane may give you better gas mileage
If your running lean, a higher octane will help with detonation (chances are your not running lean though)

heard two sides to this, one no dammage youre wasting your money 2. youre not bruning all the fuel youre dammaging the engine and wasting your money

why would you get better mileage if you're not burning the fuel fully

the lower the octane, the easier it is for the gas to ignite. if u go with a higher octane than you need it won't necessarily ignite properly/fully

my .02 is to run 87. figure you mileage and note the response.

then run 89. figure the milage note the response.

then try 91 or 92 do the same.

Listening to people who really are just magazine or interened educated can lead you astray. Just test it out and then you will know what makes you car run best.

There is alot of bs that gets spewed on this topic.

my favoite myth is super is going to hurt you engine. It may hurt you wallet but it is not going to hurt you enine.

My other favorite myth is the lower the flash point the more performace.

Octane is more of an optimum thing not a lower or higher is better.

I used to have a 97 infiniti qx4, and i always put 87 in it, till I got it smogged and it failed, cause it was high in noxious gases, and my respected opinions told me that I may have passed if I had always kept at least 89 in there. . .

even though an infiniti is completely oposite to any type of mustang on every level of comparison, I thought I would share

When my timing wasn't advanced. I felt more power with 89 than 87.

i have did my own test and using 93 octane got me another 40 miles per tank and also at times when going up hills or heavy banks i could hear my car tick and knok( the reason i switched fuels) and haven't had any problems with my car ever i been doing this since 50 miles i now have 30,000 miles so to each his own i would go with 93 octane.

It's car dependent. Some can run it better than others. I would say that 91/93 octanes will foul your plugs and cause carbon deposits in the motor from the unburned fuels.

I was running 89 octane on a stock tune and the car ran much better than with 87. But now I am running 93 octane since I got the predator tuner.

The lower the octane, the easier is it to combust. So running higher octane means it's harder to combust. Sounds like extra work to me and work sucks.
