Hi,

I checked the Optima battery site and they don't have a recommended battery for our cars. Can you guys suggest a specific part number for the red-top version that works with our cars? I'm really surprised that they don't have one listed.

Thanks

I have the yellow top, unfortunatly I don't have the part number with me. I did take out the factory battery tray and installed a Optima specific billet one I got off EBay to hold it down. I could check my receipts when I get home if you needed...

I will look tonight and tell you what red top I use. It is a little narrow so you need
one of these, they are off a 90's Corvette. I will find out for sure what year. Get them for under $10 from the chevy dealer and they hold a Optima down perfect in the stock tray.
My buddy has a shop that does only Mustangs and Corvette's. He found that these work perfect for the mustangs!!

I'm just glad Optima Batteries have a 3 year warranty. My battery goes bad every two years, I'm on my third one. I will never buy one again. Not sure if it is because I do not drive the car much, or maybe because it sits all winter. However I do unhook it and leave it inside all winter. I dont understand, nothing but problems for me with Optimas. I have a red top by the way.

huh, I've had my yellow top for about 5 years, rarely drive the car, and never disconnect the battery. Starts all the time

Mine always get bad cells. Both times I have taken it back, two different employees, I just say I need a new battery and throw mine on the counter. They say, Optima, go grab one of the self. They say it is a common problem. Dont even bother testing them.

I always heard good about them, thats why I bought it, plus I like the looks of them.

Odyssey Battery. AGM batteries are proven superior to Gel Cell

Optimas are AGM, not Gel Cell. My dad's Gel Cell finally went bad in his diesel Mercedes after 19 years.

The red top works fine, and they come with the better warranty than the yellow or blue. Gel Cells work pretty well too.

Thanks for the info on the Vette bracket. I had no idea you could do that. I'm going to pick one of those up next week.

I completely agree. I've had to replace mine 3 times now. Thank goodness they have the warranty.
