I am looking at a 1990 Mustang LX i love the orange but i just want to make sure i dont make a decision too quickly. Hes trying to get rid of it and if i dont take it he has another buyer It has 89k on it its a 5 speed it has a few mods but not too many. and this was painted within the last year. heres the ad for it.

1990 Ford Mustang LX

Im going to look at it on friday and hopefully take it home with me. I just want to make sure that im not making a mistake. He told me he will take 4k for it. I have cash so im gonna make him a cash offer for slightly less day of and see if he bites. here are all the pictures i have. is this a 4k car?

Looks like a it might b a 4k car 2 me. Id check it over mechanically b4 I laid dwn any bread. Interior looks 2 b in great shape as well as the body! Luv the chrome ponys!!!! Nice car!!!!

Thanks. The only problem i know of is it does have a slight leak. the rear main seal. Im still waiting to see the engine bay. since im going to see it and possibly pick it up friday i guess ill see it then. im just a little skeptical because hes really pushing picking it up friday. he says he loves it and doesnt want to give it up but has to so he wants me to take it before he changes his mind. obviously plausible but i wanted to make sure it wasnt because he was ripping me off and didnt want me to realize till after.

Is there anything i should be looking for. I know rust and everything but anything else? common problems? I appreciate your help.

I don't think sp, but really need more pics and info. I'd be curious to see if the engine bay is painted to match, or of it's a different color and how clean the bay is, as well as the underside.

89k is good mileage, but the 10k "cobra" engine kinda makes me wonder why the engine is replaced since I'd rather have the 89 lower end than a 93 lower end. Plis the fact that he says ot has only 10k but needs rings is a little odd as well.

Looks like the current owner doesn't know what's in it and is going off what the previous owner told him, while devoting most of his time to general repairs.

Hard to assess a value without more pics and info, but wonder if the nice shiny paint is hiding a basket case underneath. I'd need to see more before I'd lay down 4k for it.

thank you. those are some great points. I asked the seller and am awaiting a reply. how big of a job is it to replace the oil rings? im assuming its pretty serious. By the way i am the person who opened this. changed my name since i dont think it should have V6 in the name anymore since im buying a 5.0.

you would be talking total engine re build. the thing that i dont' like is the ground around the car is wet. you know how your car always looks good after you wash it and gleams really nice till the water dries up. well it's no wonder it looks good in the pics, it's wet. i dont know if it's really nice or not, but nice paint is alot of money and it's really easy to take pics to make the car look good when it's wet.

Good looking car, but if it needs a rebuild its def not a 4k car. And everyone is right, he may not have just washed it but when it rains my cars paint looks good but when its dry it doesnt look that good.

I've seen crap go around here for $4k or more and not look half as good. From the pics, looks like its more then worth it. Just look underneath and the normal spots to make sure there isn't any major issues starting.

If it needs rings I wudnt give 4k for it, ( sorry I didnt click on the link b4 ), maybe 3k at the most for a car with a worn out engine. With 89k on the clock it shudnt need rings. B very skeptical about it. Check it over, testdrive it, and if he wudnt let me testdrive it as thats what I get from his ad, Id turn around and walk off cause if he dont want you to testdrive it, theres gotta b a reason, and if your not to sure about yourself as far as the mechanicals, take sum1 with you, cause you dont wanna get into a money pit!
