I have been thinking about something for quite some time.

We got so many peeps who know stuff in various areas

I kinda think we got no blank or uncovered topics here about
our 94-95 Stangs

I was wondering if any members had subjects that ...
In their opinion ... has not gotten much coverage before

Ya'll see where I'm going with this

If one wants to learn something ... do you find sufficient
info in past threads

OR ... Do Older Threads .......

Not have much significance to most members

Older threads would be useful if it were more easibly searchable. I dont know how that would be implemented, but with my experiences and searching it hasnt gone well, comes up with a billion threads that have nothing to do with what your looking for, or your exact situation, as it varies alot with car problems and such, certain conditions, Im sure its probly been answered somewhere but not to be found without hours of sifting through old threads in the search feature.

As for general learning about the car, sure you could learn alot by reading old posts, but who really just goes and reads old posts. I know I never really did except when attempting a search for something. What Ive learned about this wonderful year of mustang has come from current posts from my join date as I read these forums everyday. See specific problems and learn from other people mishaps, projects, and whatnot.

Now for topics that havent been covered much, hmm, cant really think of any right off the top of my head, Over the few years ive been reading these boards Ive seen threads about pretty much everything (including people who like to run around with thier legs asleep, lol).

This is the best message board community Ive ever been around, Lost of good information and helpful people. (not really ANY A-Holes) Everyone is always willing to help.

I love the search function, if that's what you're asking. Rarely do I ever start something new, 9 outta 10 times there are 200 threads about the same thing in the archives.
Kinda funny when the ol' "which gears" or "which catback" questions pop up, the guys that been around here for a while don't bother with it, the medium guys reply with "use the search", but the newer guys seem to respond with their opionions.
Anyway, tons of knowledgeable people here, seems recently alot have disappeared, but the search remains...except for all that stuff that got wiped out a while ago. Great place to find info on whatever you may wanna do to your car.

I find that if I can search carefully I can find even the smallest of details. Sometimes I get frustrated and create a new thread, but in the end I usually end up finding out what I need.

As far as something that I don't know much about that hasn't seen much/any coverage... how about how to drop in a 350

Just kidding.

I just did a few searches on stuff dealing with the top end, how to prime the lifters, some misc. torque specs... and I found everything thus far. I'll see if I can keep tinkering and not find something.

Grady...search button is cool.....and you can find most of what your looking for....but I do like the "latest" rundown and bouncing an idea or question off of you/JT/Don......more feedback I guess....

the old threads are very helpful when i had my tranny leak i did a search and found what i needed to know.

its good to learn through experience it may not be my experience but the experience of others and there are alot of others.

For the most part, I've been able to find answers to most of my Q's
on most topics with a simple search

But I will say over the past month or so .............

I have seen several Q's that I knew for sure I had posted detailed
info in the past that would have been more than sufficient to help
the original poster

It was more difficult to locate those posts than I would have thought
and
I was searching for something I knew "I" had posted

I have come to to see some of my info is buried in threads
where the subject had drifted away from the original Q.

So that means the info ... at times has nothing to do with the
thread title.

Of course ... this doesn't happen to just my info. I know it happens
to anybody who posts on these forums.

Seems Like ...It should not really matter if you can be more specific
with the keyword used in the search.

I don't know

Seems like these forums could be more efficient
but
I really don't know how to be part of the solution

create a video or animation showing how to use the search function with keywords that will turn up lots of old informative threads

then make it mandatory for all the noobs to watch

i think i need to view that movie.... i find the search kinda hard to locate what i want to find....especially if it is something i posted lol i usually go to my user pc and serch all posts i started because its easier...i try to look and serch the pages to see if anyone has the question i want to know if i can go back a couple pages with nothing relating to my questions i will post a new thread... and i always try to help point new members to the answer they are asking i dont tell them to use the search....if its a post i can scroll down the page and see the same question or a page back and theres the same exact question then i will tell them to search but mostly i just try to give my imput and help user out with there questions they want answers to

I find it to be hit or miss. I know there's some info out there and I'm decent at searching but I cant seem to find it.

For awhile now I have thought it'd be neat if there was a way to submit a link and have a moderator simply add a keyword to the original thread *title* so the thread comes up in a title search. When I read some threads, there are some great gems that have nothing to do with the original topic or the original thread title was something vague like "my car runs like poop". Unless I search for poop, I'm not going to find the good stuff (searches including the 'whole post' can be lame. I'm not going to read 8 pages worth of links).

I find lots on past threads personally. Sometimes I want to ask something specific and converse as well to see if there are any new ideas from y'all. Then sometimes I have been dumb enough to ask the same question twice...But I try not to and sometimes it is a "variation" of a former question.

I find value in both really.

BUT again, it is a "forum" not just a database. It is for interaction...on second thought .

See, a forum is great, everyone contributes...but it's really a hard thing to search and archive.
With a database, you can add keywords, and organize it so that all of the information is there.

thoughts in this thread about all of this is ..............

I like to chat with everybody
but
There are times I just wanna hit the high spots and point them
to more specific detailed info.

I know I have spent a good bit of my time in past posts
with charts, tables, or several typed pages of text laying
out many details about various subjects.

I just don't ALWAYS wanna put that much time or effort in
trying to help ... especially if I know I've already made it
available in the past.

i agree that the search function isnt helpful in a lot of ways... for instance, if someone is posting in the 94-95 thread about transmission troubles, they will often not specify the t-5. and even though someone could have posted about a similar problem that you are having, there is no way of seperating ALL of the posts from teh ones that apply to your situation (t-5 transmissions only) Now, i agree the t-5 has probably been covered in all aspects so many times that this is a bad example... but it is just that, AN EXAMPLE. I agree that a keyword I.D. would be helpful on threads that are vague, but i just dont think it would be realistic to expect anyone to go through past threads and label them accordingly(unless we run into one of those famous april fools day server crashes again)

..well we are on a forum thats for interactions if i wanted to just go looking for info i would go to a informative site specifying my needs i enjoy talking to people at the same time finding out my answers if i serch through old threads i get to see jokes and interactions with other members and i just get to view them and thats not fun:SNSign:
