The $20 Chromers are leaking...it's hard to find gaskets for those, and they dont look that much better anyways, besides not having an oil filler neck.

Decided to paint the stockers..I KNOW they will fit.

Joe..these are like a Vibrant Red color, and since your STB is painted, I think this may be the route to go in your engine.

Um, How were you going to change the oil later? Just curious.

The chromers: have a hole and it is stopped up with a grommet. You just remove that and use a funnel for filling.

Joe, even if you keep them black, you can take your stock ones off when you do the lower, sand them down and prime them, then use the heat resistant black paint.

I thought about using black, but Ill see how this does for now..I can always change them back...Good thing about painting. By the time Jose and I do this on Sat, I should be pretty good at removing the upper! :nice:

IMO tho, I think you would like these with your reddish STB!

RC, I painted my valve covers red, heres a picture of what they look like but they are fox valve covers... dont mind the finger prints all over the intake... just finished working on the car and I'm really good at removing the intake by now.

They look good, I just dont know if its too much red. I think you should try new gaskets with the chrome ones, and if that still leaks, then put the stock ones back on. Thats what I would do man.

Well, Here is the thought:

I cant get the gaskets in time for Saturday, and I gotta have the car running by Sunday.

I can put these back on in red, and if I dont like them, then I have time to get new gaskets and then I can redo it.

ALSO, the chromers do not have the filler neck and the TF one does fit those covers. I want to use that oil fille neck vacuum hose to run the setup back to the Power Pipe that Bling runs.

See ya Saturday.

RC - this may be a dumb question but did you check the bolts where its leaking to see if they were tight? When i swapped motors, 3 of my VC bolts came lose after running it a few times. I would check that out if you havent already.
I tightened them down pretty good once already.

Javi put these covers on his and he said that he HAD to change the gasket...he did a lot to get the chromers to not leak and it didnt work till he changed them.

I guess that's a :notnice: vote for the colored ones from you?

Here is another picture I just took after the final coat. Im still debating whether or not to put a coat of clear finish.

Those look pretty nice. IMHO i would have painted them laser red like the color of your car, but then again I bought some anodized blue (i think i spelled that wrong) VCs for my black stang.

The laser red would look nicer, agreed, but 2 things:

1. Cant find that color in heat-resistant. Most of the reds are really orangy. This is the "reddest" paint I could find.

2. Remember under my hood, the red Vortech Boots and the FMS wires are not really laser red. These would match what's ACTUALLY under the hood better.

Hey look, the covers are just sitting there, I had the paint already, so I figured.."what the h3ll"? DIdnt really do any harm. Ill put them on, and If I dont like, Ill just get gaskets for the other ones or paint these back to black.

I think they will look nice reflecting off the STB and Intake. You'll see Vib!
Thanks

I think they could look good with all the chrome and polished stuff reflecting them. We'll never know till you get them on though. Also some clear couldn't hurt, (it'll make them shine better to match the rest of the engine) if you have it already.

Sup RC-

How is the paint sticking to VCs??

Rude
So far so good.
Did 2 coats of high temp primer...sanding between coats.

And 3 really light coats of the color.
Then 2 light coats of the clear.

Got a sligh gouge where we banged it trying to get it on, but last week I had some oil spray all over on out of the dipstick, and it wiped right off with no probs and no marks.

Thanks
