Ive been having this problem of the front shoe on my pass side rear not sitting properly and causing it to destroy shoes and drums in a matter of weeks. i thought the backing plate was worn, so i went thorugh the trouble today to put a new one in, and same thing. i can, however get the shoes to sit properly by hand, but the front comes out when the parking brake is used. so i took the drum off, made them sit properly and has my brother pull the parking brake, and it the front shoe came off again. So i guess ive figured out its soemthing to do with the parking brake, but what? ive been chasing this problem for months now, any help appreciated. btw, the brake does not and never did hold the wheels anyway...

i had the same prob on my drivers side rear. If i would pull my p brake and then put it down the left would never fully disengage. You need to double check that the side is installed properly. The top part of my shoe wore all the way down to the metal and destroyed my drum. It was my left parking brake cable. For some reason they rust easily. I am not saying that this is your prob because i did not test mine when i had the drum off. I replaced the cable (ebay) for like 30 bucks it solved my prob.

Also don't forget to spend the extra $7 and install a small parts kit when you do the drums. It includes new springs, as well as the other little parts you need to do a clean drum brake job. It's easy to skip this part of the job, but cheaping out over the $7-12 it costs is short-sighted. The springs do wear out and after going to the trouble of doing a drum brake job it's a mistake to reuse the old parts.
