Hey guys,
Just got back from the dyno and made 355 rwhp and 396 ft lbs of torque which was a little disappointing. The guy told me that I need to buy a MAF IA by Diablosport and a kenne bell boost a pump. Is this what I really need or was he trying to sell me something?
I have a 306 stroker motor with a P1sc procharger blower 12 psi. Also if I do end up needing these things I want to up the boost. What size pulley will get me 15-18 psi?
Thanks for your input

Well if what he is telling you is true, you will need a bigger MAF or the MAFia to handle the overflow. Strange though with a Lightning MAF. But with 306CI and 15lbs, maybe this isn't so strange. And as far as running out of fuel, this is surprising seeing that you have dual Cobra pumps. The KB BAP is a cheaper way to go, but I just wonder if this is really an issue...
I'd solve one issue (the MAF), then get it on the dyno again...($150 - $180 bucks?)
In the end, I think any retailer wants to sell you something...
Best of Luck!

With a lightning MAF, 42# injectors and Cobra pumps I doubt you're running out of MAF headroom or fuel at that power. Clearly the power is off though: a 306 @ 12 pounds should be making way more than 355. I'm at a pretty weak 385 on the stock bottom end, stock MAF and a stock MGT pump with a BAP with a used 1.7L KB with a 9# pulley. You should be way higher than me...

Can you verify either of his contentions (MAF saturation and running out of fuel)? Was MAF logged during the run(s)? Were WBO2 sensor readings taken of the AFR? What were they? Got a plot?

I wouldn't even think about 15-18#s until you get it right at 12.

Agreed. There is no way his pump is maxed out at 355whp. Dual cobra pumps can easily handle 450-500whp. I think the tuner is trying to sell you products.

This is why I love tuning my own car

Maybe i dont have the Cobra Pumps, I was told by the guy who installed my supercharger that the kit came with them, maybe he said SVT pumps and I assumed Cobra.

I have a plot at home ill check it out and post the info. I know is has the AF ratio on it but im not sure about the other stuff you mentioned. All I know is that the car had great power through 4500 rpm and then it just dumped to a downward slope. The tune I have is conservative bc I do not want to replace another motor. But even I expected much bigger numbers after all the money and time I have in this car

Who is this tuner and how much does he really know about these cars. 355 rwhp is something people can get out of a stock pullied p1sc on a stock 281 with an x-pipe and mufflers.

You need to list what your A/F ratio is. I have a feeling thats what the problem is. So this does sound like a not so great tuner if he can only get 355 rwhp with your setup and tell you the Lightning MAF is pegged.

My bone stock P1SC made 380/405 at the rear wheels bone stock. Not even a cat back. I am using a SVT Focus pump and a SCT BA2400 MAF. The pump is fine but I maxed out my meter too. I can see how you would max out a Lightning MAF. Lightning MAF's and my SCT don't really like blow through setups. A diablo sport MAFia will fix your MAF problem or go with a meter made for blow through setups, like a PMAS tube meter. It does sound like you need to take your car to a different tuner.

I took it to Race Related in Clearwater, FL. I am not happy at all with those numbers. the car has excellent power up until 4500 rpm or so. I know for a fact this car can make a whole lot more horsepower. I smoke almost everything on the street till about 3rd gear, i have a built top end so i know i can handle the boost and high rpms. it cost me $500 for the intial tune and 100 per hour for additonal tuning. dyno time isnt cheap and I hope i didnt get hosed.

the AFR was 13:1 I believe. it was just a graph with a straight red line @ 12 with a blue line @13 and dipping down to 12 during the run
