That sucks dude, I would be calling somone asap! There have to be people running stock hoods with a p51, something isnt right there....
I guess you guys havent read the other P-51 thread I started. I did talk to the company (fox lake) who advertised that it would fit under a stock hood. When I talked to them, they told me that I would have to get an aftermarket hood or cut the stock one. If you want more info look for my other thread on the P-51.

is your hood latching properly now? that could actually become a safety issue. Don't fly down the freeway until you get this taken care of. I would hate for your hood to fly open on you.
also i'd like to see a full shot of the engine bay if you don't mind....I just like the way it looks in their.

Why couldn't you cut a small piece from the hood. This is not intended on being a smartass comment. I installed Ford hoodscoop on my 2000 and had to cut several chunks out for it to work. It doesn't look like it will be noticable. What kind of inlet pipe are you using? Is there something hitting that too?
I am using a C&L inlet tube with a 80MM MAF. I may cut a chunk out of the hood. The whole point of this thread is not to ***** but to let other people know they they should expect when buying this product. I will take care of it somehow for myself but dont want to see others having the same issues. I dont know anyone (aside from 99.9% of MD) that would like this kind of thing and back it up. Im just trying to inform.

Anyways, are hood clearance problems somewhat resolved if you remove the hood blanket?
Also, can the hood "bump stops" be (located by the headlights) adjusted to allow for a slight increase in hood clearance? Granted, doing this would make for an unsightly "gap" between where the hood meets the front fenders...
Just some suggestions...g'luck!

it looks like in one picture of the C&L inlet tube that something is hitting, is the intake hitting there?
I did remove the blanket because the hood wouldnt even close with the blanket on. The hood is hitting both the inlet tube and the top of the intake manifold. If you read the other threads on this, some say that it is the engine mounts and that they can vary up to .5" and mine is sitting higher than some.

I have read, hope you get it worked out.I still wouldn't replace hood if you didn't plan to. Just cut it , maybe the blanket will fit.
wondering, why did you buy this intake instead of the Accufab plenum or C&L? sorry if you stated in the other threads.

grind the hood....... temporary solution at best.
when the time is right ditch the ole heavy stock hood and get an after market hood.
my vote goes for the 95 cobra r hood in fiber glass and or carbon fiber. that style of hood is much better weight wise and areodynamically.
i would also say the 2000 cobra r hood. the one thing im not certian of is the weight on this hood. but if weight is a non issue... go for that one.
