A borg warner T-5 is what comes stock in 5.0s.

A tremec T-5 is a little better rated at 300 ftlbs

Tremec 3550's are pretty strong.

Tremec TKO 500/600 is the one that will take 600 ft lbs, a 600 found its way into my car after the T-5 blew up.

Go search a little on hardcore50.com, 450rwhp can be had out of an aggressive 347. Not trying to be a dick, just telling the truth. 450rwhp out of a 408 is just over 1hp per CI obviously, which isnt that great.

I think he meant he now HAS a tko600 and not the t5 anylonger. IIRC he just picked it up for the build with some other things.

yeah it is the tremec tko i misspoke

my builder specified the parts, that was the part number he gave me for the valve cover gasgets. i might get different ones because i don't like the cork either.

same thing with the oil pan gasget. he knows and likes felpro and sticks with it for that reason. give me a part number for the one-piece 351w oil pan gasget you had in mind?

450 at the wheels is about 530 at the crank. that is extremely agressive for a 347.

a 450 rwhp 347 is not going to be streetable. 400 rw maybe. or 450 at he flywheel maybe, but not at the tires.

yeah, the rpm intake.

do you mean the intake will limit me?

mine is a 100% street car, no track time planned, stoplight to stoplight.

i wanted the power band in the rpm range where i'll be driving 95% of the time

I dunno... I was just thinking with the smaller intake you'll need to go with a more aggressive cam to reach 450 to the wheels...Are you gonna have the intake ported any?

Most 400+ engines I've seen on forums put out 450-480rwhp n/a. I know it's easy to get 500+ just by putting in a huge cam, but you sacrifice driveability by doing that. My car runs almost perfect on the stock computer, how many guys with 450rwhp 347's can say that?

So just what exactly is your definition of "MUCH better than 450rwhp"? 500? 550? More?

The most Ive ever seen out of a 351 based stroker setup was 722rwhp n/a 13:1 compression, yes I know thats not very "streetable" but just using it for an example. Streetability is opinion. I remember when people told me 4.10s and no front swaybar was unstreetable.

It's a street car, not a race car. Since you read hardcore so much you are falling into the constant trap over there. Anytime someone wants to make a nice reliable streetable engine all of the pundits on hardcore have a habit of turning a solid plant into a titanium retainered, monster stroke, 8000 rpm, non-pump gas beast.

A 450rw 347 with a C4, 5500 stall, and 4.30s makes a hell of a race car but a pretty crappy daily driver. I think this build will be a great street engine. The intake choice was a bit of a flag but damn, if he doesn't like it then it only takes 3 hours to swap on a new intake!!!

ngk plugs? cork valve cover gaskets? 1 piece oil pan gasket? u may want to rethink using those things. and i'm sure the $ u spent on those spark plug wire looms could have been better spent elsewhere. i know they're pricey, how much were they?

good call on ditching the cork valve cover gaskets, your saving yourself alot of headache. those things leak. i've had my valve covers off more times than i can remember and i'm still using my factory gaskets without any leaks. i would think the plain jane autolite plugs would be good, did your engine builder or anyone else recommend the ngks?

Autolites are good and cheap.

NGK's are DAMN good too though. I ran them in my KTM dirtbike and my buds ran them in Suki's, Yami's, Honda's, dirt and street bikes as well...for the money they were the best plugs we ever used and we ran the gambit on them.

I went with a NGK on my gt40 heads and ran the autolites on the stock heads both work great. I would not feel bad about running a slightly more $$$ plug if i trusted it as much as the cheaper.

Now if you had said bosch plat. plugs I would say get your head checked, I have yet to see a car run better with fresh bosch plats over 30k mile copper's.
