Every since i did the t5 swap 2 years ago I havent had blinkers on my car, I took the speedo cluster out to re route the speedo cable when doing the t5 swap, and the pigatils on the back of the hazard switch were so brittle they both cracked so i didnt have rear defrost, hazards or blinkers for 2 years now. Thanks to a fellow stangnetter who hooked me up with new pigtails I now have hazards and rear defrost but still no blinkers. Im stumped on where to look, its very possible while doing the t5 swap and lowering the steering column out of the way that some of the wire may have been holding the steering column up on there own, this may be the problem but i have no idea which wire to check for or anything. The blinker/windshield/high beam switch is relativley new about 3 years old, and the high beams still come on which i assume means the switch is ok, im not sure about wipers cause my car doesnt have them. Because the high beams work on the switch does that rule out a bad turn signal switch?? I dunno what would you guys look for 1st?

I would pull of the covers and look at the back of the switch to make sure all the wires are making good contact.

Kdubslugga, I have almost the exact problem. AOD-T5 swap June 2005, no blinkers since. Also shorted something that blew both headlights, replaced and worked. For the blinkers I've swapped all bulbs, both flashers (sigs & Hazz) and the multi-function switch. I've got voltage thru flasher module to the back of the headlight switch. I've read that the ignition switch can also cause this problem. When I completed the swap there was 1 connector under dash that I didn't remember disconnecting (or find mate for) so I left it. 3-wire 1/8' x 1/4 inch all pins in 1 row, don't have colors of wires at work. Once you solve it please post or PM me, I'll do the same. I feel like an ass not being able to signal.
Thanks, Vann

I ran a test light at the hazard switch, all had power, I then ran a test light at the back of the multi function switch, all have power as well. So I have a Question, does the Neutral Safety Switch have anything at all to do with blinkers, because im aware it has something to do with the reverse lights, could this be a possible problem since i bypassed the NSS underneath the car at the tranny? Other than that the only other option is a new multi function switch. Please help guys

Ocalafox - did you get the correct MFS for your year vehicle?? pre 90 takes one type, 91-93 takes a different type. wiring connector is different.

also, what year is you car??

Sorry if I missed it, but did you check in and out signals at the turn signal relay? Is the relay functional?

AFAIK, the NSS has nothing whatsoever to do with the TS's.
Good luck.

My car is an 88, the relay has nothing no clicking or sound or anything, I transferred the hazard relay and the blinker relay and the hazard worked everytime but no blinkers. Should I run a test light at the blinker relay??

check the 15Amp fuse #5 HOT in RUN. if good and has power check for power at relay, if power check for power at Hazard switch(LB wire) if power check power out of Hazard swt (O/Y) w/ hazard swt off. if power, check O/Y wire at turn signal switch.

i gotta go - here's the diagram:

ok so, i was running a test light with ign. on and on the back of the turn signal switch when i touched the green wire it made this box under the dash click, its a 2 inch by 2 inch box mounted next to the steering cloumn that has a pig tail connected to it with the same color wires that plugs into the turn signal switch, is this the relay or is the relay that little connector with just two prongs on it, and 3 wires? 2 purple with orange stripe and 1 blue wire, is that the relay.

followed the step by step you just gave me, tested the #5 slot in the fuse box while running one side was red one side was green which im guessing is ok, relay lite up green, power at Hazard switch lite up green, power out of Hazard lite up green, and Orange/Yellow wire at turn sinal lite up green

My car is a 91 lx. I havn't messed with it this weekend, too hot and rainy. I also bypassed the neutral switch. I'll trace the diagram in the chilton manual again. Not sure where it goes after the flasher module.

were you using a power probe at first??

ok, if you have no power at the LB wire on the hazard swt. then check the the fuse again. that fuse also powers the backup lamps, so if you have reverse lamps then the fuse and the wiring to the turn signal flasher is good(backup lamps get power from a piggy back at the flasher)

if backup lamps work, check the wiring between the flasher and the hazard swt with an Ohm meter. remember to pull the flasher unit out.

check the MFS. pull the connector and check where the O/Y wire goes. make sure there is a corrisponding pin for that wire.

if the pin corrisponds then check for power at the O/Y wire. fuse #5 15 amp is the fuse for your signals aswell

here is you diagram:

ok cjones, thank you for helping me so far, youve been great i think im almost there. The lt Blue wire at the relay has power and it also has power at the Hazard switch, no i followed that 5 or 6 step list you gave me and the Orange wire with yellow stripe has nothing, nothing at the hazard switch and nothing at the turn switch, so is this where the problem is coming from?

is the hazard swt off?? if so, pull the hazard swt and check for continuity (0-3 ohms) between the Pins for the O/Y and LB wires with the hazard swt off. if you have NO continuity then check with the swt on. if still NO continuity, then the hazard swt is bad.
