power brake support help

I recently purchased a power disc brake conversion kit from chockostang. My 1968 Mustang originally had original drum. I found that my brake support did not have the unique hole to mount the new pivot point for a power brake pedal. Chocko sent me a new mount with the correct hole, but I cannot figure a way to exchange the mounts. Does the instrument cluster have to come out for this? Steering column? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Yes , and yes. It could be worse, I recently replaced the pedal bracket in a 69 428CJ, and you have to take the dash out to do that one.

there is no way to remove this bracket without removing the steering column. I've never done this and my shop manual doesn't provide much detail in doing the job. Apart from what looks to be the obvious, is there anything to look out for when removing the steering column? I have gone to far to turn back in this project........

Disconnect the rag joint, and wiring plug, remove the flange bolts from the firewall, disconnect the column from the dash and pull it out.
