Chased all the threads. Brass brushed the mating surface. Cam bolt and thrust bearing bolts will be here tomorrow. Let the reassembly commence.

Torqued. Spun twice. And oiled down. Like we all hope to be.

Long read, this is where I broke my water pump bolt: https://stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/snow-93-gt-vert-some-battery-woes.906418/post-9189968

I learned on the fly, seems like you already have a lot of knowledge.

Best of luck!

I picked up the proper Fel Pro gasket for the water pump backing plate.

Gray is the POS that came with the water pump.

I feel like I should trim the inner blue off the Fel Pro to match so that there's not free floating gasket on the inside of the pump.

Thoughts?

Aight. Did a thing.

Also, while I wait on more parts, I tried a rattle can thing.

That's what the whole car looked like when it was freshly painted.

Getting the timing chain cover to go nicely over the curved part of the oil pan gasket was a royal pita. I did put some black RTV in the corners where the cover meets the pan and a bit under the oil pan gasket. It's the nice full rubber one with the metal inserts. So hopefully no leaks.

Also, per the Ford manual. No RTV on the water pump. Good gaskets and some gasket tack.

Had this over at a friend's place soaking in an ultrasonic cleaner. Wire wheeled all the remaining rust.

Hit it with some silver wheel paint. Hopefully it stays looking that good.
