Welp, I suck at welding. Haha. It looks like I need more heat. One hole actually got filled. 3 of them look like I didn't touch them and the others are kinda full but not enough. Sprayed with some weld through primer so I can see better. Time to try again.

I’ve got no issues with Flux core other than it’s ugly lol. I was just going to recommend cranking the heat up

More heat better. Little bit of clean up and a skim of bondo, and I'm happy with that.

Opinions?

I'm thinking about installing rivnuts with Loctite on the screws to hold the solenoids, charcoal can, & ABS pump. Seems like a better option than just putting bolts into the metal. Obviously, the solenoids and charcoal can don't weigh anything, but it'll make for serviceability should the need arise without risking over tightening and stressing the metal. I'm concerned about the weight of the ABS pump. But maybe a tack weld around the rivnut will alleviate that concern.

Opinion:

Weld scab plates into the locations you want to install rivnuts. Done.

A plate large enough to contain one or more of your rivnut holes.

Rivnuts away!

I've gotta get some different color wire so I don't lose track of the extensions. Everything I soldered for extensions is the same gauge as the factory harness.

Definitely getting better. This is still 35 flux core. All the stuff for 23 mig will be here this week so I can do the real thin stuff.

Tore the heads off. Cylinders are beautiful. No scoring. Had a very slight steam clean on two of the pistons. Nothing tragic. Going to call the machine shop tomorrow and see what it'll cost to get the heads checked out and make sure they're good Vs spending a grand or more on new heads.
