Hopefully some people will have some input regarding an MAC prochamber vs. a regular off-road H-pipe. Is the prochamber REALLY worth the extra $100? Is their a significant sound/performance advantage to warrant it being so much more expensive? Im shopping around for a mid-pipe and would like a prochamber.....but the extra cost is really bothering me.

the prochamber has a very unique sound..its some what in between an h and x. it will be a little quieter than an o/r h but i think it sounds better. try and see if u can find a used prochamber.. i just picked one up the other day for $80 so it can be done.

+1 , the ProChamber sounds just great , its got a deep sound to it !

What will the mid pipe be hanging out with , flows , slp ?

I'm looking for a new midpipe too and from all the researching I've done.. most people seem to agree the prochambers have the best sound. I agree the price kinda sucks but once it's on it's on for good so don't go cheap you won't regret spending a bit more.
Anyone know where to get a deal on them? I've had a hard time finding any used.

The cheapest I've found so far is $251.55

I realise that this is a dumb question but the prochamber does fit with the 4R70W right?

Yes, fits perfectly.

And as others have said, try and find a used one maybe. I actually got mine brand new from a clear-out sale for about $150 shipped, IIRC. Keep an eye out in all the classifieds (Stangnet, SN95 Forums, Corral, Modular Depot, etc), and you should be able to find one.

I do like the way mine sounds; as others said, it sounds more refined than an H, and it is a bit quieter, also a plus for me.

I love mine (catalytic Prochamber)! The sound is quite deep, it changed the tone, and it was louder than stock. Paired with the Flowmaster 40 series, it sounds awesome! It has a wicked tone but it isn't extremely loud at all so you don't get pulled over all the time (never been pulled over with my set-up which I've been running for about 4 years now).

I would have gone with the off-road version, but we have emission testing in my province.
