Its white paint

The back end looks pretty good rust wise, but we shall see after some blasting what comes out...

I just looked up and noticed something that im GLAD i got a picture of...something i noticed about a week ago

Look at LAST picture....the trunk lip RIGHT above the passenger tailight... LOOK AT THAT HACK JOB!!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!

It looks liek someone SLAPPED a fender over it, or the extension piece and just welded it on top....jesus it looks horrible and i never noticed it until now

It's funny how you don't notice those "little things" until it's too late or right in front of your nose. That little canister is either a carbon canister, which is part of the emmissions system, or it's just a vacuum reservoir. Did it have a line running from the air cleaner? If it did, it would be a carbon canister. My guess would be a vacuum reservoir.

it is most definitely a vacuum reservoir for the AC. they didn't start with the carbon canisters in the mustangs until at least 71 or maybe 72 with the possible exception of the california emissions 70 models but i don't think those even had carbon canisters just a different gas tank. also the carbon cansiters were in the front of the engine compartment not the rear.
