Proof of 13's in a stock '99-'04 Mustang GT

i dont see why everyone thinks these cars are so slow. im not saying there fast either, but they could deff kick a saturns ass. ive seen an 87 gt with a five speed, and just a full exhaust (bbk shorties, bbk x, and american thunder kit) run a 13.9. my friend still has the time slip, and he was running against a 96 cobra, which also ran a 13.9. thats why he kept it.
if your a good driver, and you can actually get a good 60 foot time, and good light, you can get these cars flyin in the quarter. over 75 percent of the people with mustantgs, includeing myself cant drive them. lets face it, our cars hook like their on ice. when my friend ran a 13.9 in his car, he had a 1.85 60 foot time, with a .165 light. thats damn near unheard of, and i still wounder how he did it. it was a once in a lifetime thing, but it proves that even a older car with only 180-190 horses at the wheels can pull it off.
these newer, 99 and up cars, i dont see why no one belives their in the 13's stock. if you can drive that is. i seen a festiva, or assfire or somethin race a car that looked just like mine, (which kinda embarrased me later cause everyone thought it was me) and he was killin him for a little bit. i was scared for the mustang. later on tho, i talked to the guy, and hes got a old charger, and has had it since he was a teen.
if we'd learn to drive, or even get lucky like my friend, you'd be supprised what a little 200 hp motor would do.

P.S. saturns aint *hit either! ha.

I am sure this was the classic race from a roll and the guy kept up. now he thinks he is special.

I have noticed with these str-4, rsx, redline, wrx, etc crowd that if you don't litteraly beat them by a football field or something they think your car is slow. Like you have a v8 and only beat me by x about of car lenghts.

the thing about a race that is not really negotiated is the person may not really be giving the car all its got.

I ran a 14.03 @ 100.18 on my 01 stock GT. And at that time I don't think I had really had it long enough to be completely used to it, but I've already started modding so I don't know if I could have gotten into 13's stock.

This argument has been going on since the mid '80s. Z28 Vs Mustang, SRT4 Vs Mustang, Redline Vs Mustang. Everybody wants to claim they can beat a Mustang. Some can, some can't. The common thread is the Mustang is always the car to beat.

In case you might be interested in what they're saying and you love an argument:

If not, then just ignore :nice:

unnnnggghhhhh.. :nonono: Somehow I feel more dumb for having read those "arguments". Especially the one about having 2X the cylinders and 2X's the displacement and only being a second faster. That has virtually NOTHIGN to do with ANYTHING. :nonono:

If the Redline is running like they say, then that's pretty respectible for what it is. But at the end of the day they still drive a Saturn and Saturn's are econoboxes no matter what gets done to them performance wise.

Well said BTW. The Mustang is the benchmark in each argument.

Id love to compare notes with them when our 2x displacement gets the same treatment as thier car (aka forced induction). :spot:

I just read through that thread. I wanted to register and simply state "Any Redline looking for a race with stock mustang gt *Yes a slow car* please pm me. Will travel if bet is over 10k."
