Q's about LT header, and sniffer test-Ohio resident needed

Well, i'm thinking I'll do that sometime this year, but I'm moving to Ohio sometime this year as well. Now, couinty I'm moving to(Lorain county) has a emission test with sniffer test from what I'm understanding, and I know with long tube header, you'll lose cats. Now, can I pass sinffer test with LT, and if not, anyway I can add cats so that I'll pass, or should I just go with BBK tuned length header(when ever it came out)??

You *may* pass a sniffer but you won't pass a visual. The trick with long tubes is not whether or not you can install cats, but how far away the cats are from the block. Catalytic converters only work when operating at a certain temperature; you may have noticed your car smells different when running cold. The problem with LTs is cat placement is too far from the engine, preventing "light off", or catalytic converter warm up, therefore preventing the cats from producing the appropriate chemical reactions they were designed for. LTs will NEVER be emissions legal, for this reason and this reason alone. You can *try* and place them on your exhaust piping (mid-pipe) for a visual inspection, but you are rolling the dice with a sniffer.

You will easily pass with longtubes and a Cat-H pipe. I ran Mac Long tubes with the Cat-H pipe, with 42 lb injectors, Vortech Supercharger @ 12 psi & passed the dyno test each time for 2 years. The V8 definitely puts out enough heat to heat the 2 cats. The operating temperature is about 1400 degrees and they will reach that quite easily with a little hard driving.

No you wont pass the visual test. If you are really concerned with Echeck. Get shorty headers and save the stock H pipe. When you go do your testing, slap the sucker back on. Takes 15 minutes.

I heard in the past somthing about loophole in OH echeck. something about if you fail, and you prove that you try to fix it, and you fail yet again, it'll be omitted or something like that.
But Otherwise, i guess I'll have to go with shortie. I mean BBK one should make some power after all, even tho not LT header

That isn't entirely accurate. I had a 78 bronco that they tried to make me have it be emissions legal. yes a 78 bronco that didn't even come with Cats or emissions equipment from the factory. I did a few things with the carb and ran lower octane gas with alcohol but it wouldn't pass. I went back a few times. Each time they said it has to pass or we wont put plates on it. So I continued to buy temp plates for it.

What I do now is register my car in a different county. I will continue to do so until I get caught or E check disappears. Its a 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'ing waste. doesn't do anything for anybody but waste an hour of their time and money.]
