hey i just bought a 93 cobra Maf (new), X3Z comp (ebay supposedly new), and 24 lb injectors that have 15k miles on them.

I want to know if the computer is required when installing the Maf and inj?

i got all of it for 150 and if i can get buy by using the maf and injectors then i will prob sell the comp.

But my friend was telling me that the cobra comp has a more aggressive tune to it so its prob gonna work better with my car HCI.

any info would help,

thanks

You will need the computer to run the 24lb injectors, because the cobra MAF is not "calibrated" for 24lb injectors, the computer is tuned for it.

The Cobra compute is not that desirable. It's trying to make a more hi-po engine combo meet tougher emmissions standards. As a result, it's actually less aggressive.

A9L and A9P are the most aggressive stock 5.0 ECUs, but i use that term lightly because more than likely there really isn't a huge difference in any of the computers really.

There isn't a huge difference between the X3Z and the A9L....
kinda funny to keep seeing the X3Z get kicked in the nads though.... especially when the kick isn't supported in any way.

Personally, I would prefer the X3Z for running 24's over ANY A9L setup with a 'calibrated MAF'
The calibrated MAF process is not ideal.... and was developed as a cheap/easy fix, back when tuning/reprogramming the ecu wasn't practical.

With the X3Z setup, you will get factory idle quality and reliability.
The 'calibrated MAF' setup will introduce error in the tune, it's just a question of how much.

Yes, you will want to use the 93 Cobra MAF, ecu, and 24's as a complete set.

I think you made the right choice,
Good luck

Like i said, the difference is really not that large. It's like asking what is lighter? A fly or an ant?

I just find it funny when the '93 cobra comp is touted as some super Hi-po computer.

yeah, i've heard bad things about the X3Z, but its usually people who haven't even tried it. the rumor is spread and spread. i've also read great things so, for 150 bucks...... it was worth it.......heck the 15k miles on the injectors are almost worth that.

i fig i'll run both on a dyno and really see if the rumor is holds true
