Ran my Cobra at Monroe

WOW! All you have is a K&N filter? You must be a professional drag racer, I don't even think the magazines ever got results like that

All I can go off of as far as time for you is what I have done in my 95 Cobra at the beginning of this race season with my old setup:

Car wieght: 3,110 with driver
Tires: Nitto's 555R's Drag Radials
Gears: 3.73's
Turbo: 13 psi 450rwhp & 540rwtq

results:

60' : 1.827
1/8 mile: 7.664 @ 93.33
1/4 mile: 11.824 @ 119.34

You must have one of those FREAK 03 Cobra's to be pulling times like that, specially with just a drop in filter

Congrats!

Will

Ok, I'll be nice but I find that 1/8 th time very hard to believe for a Cobra with just a KN filter. I'd say the slip is wrong because look at my mods in my signature and then look at my best timeslip results below.

1.967 60'
7.996 @ 90.32 mph in the 1/8 th
12.275 @ 114.5 mph in the 1/4 mile

I'm no pro driver, but I do have 157 runs on my Cobra, so I can say I'm experienced. It is most likely that the timeslip was in error. I would have to see the timeslip and mph to figure it out what went wrong. A stock 03 Cobra just does not have the hp to cut that kind of time in the 1/8th.

Well my first pass was a 7.8

Second pass was a 7.6

Then after a couple ok passes I got a 7.4

I'm not pro either but I don't shift like the average joe... My foot doesn't come off the gas at all ;)

I'm going to be at Monroe again next Sunday for anyone that wants to try and call B.S.

Its a Black 03 and my rear license plate says "Don't Cry girls... I'll be back"

Kinda hard to miss.

And BTW, How could all three of these runs be in error when NO ONE complained about bad ET's the entire day?

What was your mph? I've also looked at some of your other posts and they mentioned you had a custom catback and were ordering a pulley among other mods you were considering. So which is it? If you have the timeslip, list the 330' time and your R/T just for fun. One of your other posts mentioned a friend of yours in a Z28 got an 8.0 but it didn't list mph? Something sounds fishy with their timiing system. But, if it tells everyone they are going really quick, people might not complain. We know of a dyno shop that gives inflated horsepower numbers to please the customer.... The bottom line is there is no way a lightly modded 2003 Cobra could get that time in the 1/8th mile.

The times are off because Evergreen / Monroe has a 1/8 drag which is short by a signifigant distance. The drag strip is a portion of the oval.

The only thing accurate about it are the RT and 60' times. It's a great place to practice launching against the light but otherwise there is no validity in the times.

Right you are Tyler!!!! I can't remember, but it is at least 100 feet short if not more... I had the same problem the first time I ran there -- thought I had a freaking monster car!!!! Then I went to PR and got a dose of reality!!!

Forget your 1/8 mile times at Monroe... It's redneck racing at it's best... Didja dodge the hamburger patties and sno-cone ***** on the track??? How about that sideways slide you do during the burnout caused by the track angle???

Take your ride to PR and get a sense of what it will really do...

Your 1/8th mile time would indicate a mid-low 11 timeslip which just isn't going to happen for a stock Cobra. The potential is there with some simple upgrades, but not stock.

Sounds like the track may be an issue here. My suggestion would to be to take it to a full 1/4 mile track and get a real time. Thanks for posting.

Well if the track is short, that would explain my times.

I haven't got the catback or a pulley yet because I keep hearing horror stories about damaging the snout when removing the pulley.

Anyways I will go down to pacific and give her a run.

However... Given what you guys have said about 1/8th mile times, Monroe is off by like a whole Second..?

If thats the case, which it sounds like it is, then there are a lot of people running around that think their cars are WAY faster then they really are. lol! There must be at least 40-50 cars ever time I go.

And in response to power shifting..

No, I don't think its a new cool thing, but most people can't do it or are affraid to do it.

Just get a quality puller and follow the instructions. It is hard to get off, but take your time and be careful and it is not a worry. I've done it myself twice now. The pulley makes it a whole new car..... I use the Predator tuner cause it does lots of other stuff as well. The new tune even gives a 91 octane tune which came in handy when a gas pumper put 87 regular in my tank. Its a little slower but no detonation worries. Can't do that with a chip very easily. Good luck man and enjoy the car. Keep those 60' times low and you will get good times. That is the key.
