What size combustion chamber are on the stock e7 heads?

I remember reading somehwere and thinking they were 61cc... but I want to make sure. Im struggling with determining some compression ratios on my new set-up.

Thats not a stupid question, I don't know either. Someone told me it's around 67cc but i dunno.

My Al Kirschenbaum,"Mustang 5.0L Tech and Reference book says...

60.6-63.6cc for E7TE-PA heads.

Try further searching to verify these specs.

wow, so the chamber sizes differ that much? They werent made a standard size?

All of the Ford head combustion chamber specs I`ve ever seen even for other Ford engines besides the 5.0L,(302),have all been listed that way,eg,
60-63 or whatever number,but always two numbers are shown to maybe account for manufacturing tolerances.

The only way to really find out for sure is to measure the actual volume of a given head with one of those cc liquid measuring contraptions that a machine shop or engine builder would use to find out the actual combustion chamber size in cc`s.

Measure instead of guessing,there`s really no other way...oh and if the heads were ever milled/shaved that would alter the chamber volume as well.

Isn`t engine building fun.

Oh yes.. your telling me? I swear Im trying to go with the most complicated engine build ever.

I currently have a Mexican Block bored .30 over and and trying to find a stroker kit for it. This wouldnt be too hard EXCEPT!

- Dunno weather or not I can use a 50oz crank cuz this a 70's block and orginally had 28oz.. ive heard 28oz is a tad better but if i went that route I would need a new flywheel.
- No oil dipstick provisions in the mexican block so I gotta find a pan that has one and can clear a girdle as well as fit in the fox body chassis.
- Im contemplating get'n a set of thumper heads for this build but different stroker kits produce different compressions with different sized chambers.. This wouldnt effect me usually but I already have a Vortech blower so I dont want to go above 9:5 or below 9:1 ... If I get the urge to get a set of aftermarket heads I want to make sure the chamber sizes of stock e7's are close to the aftermarket heads I can afford or want to buy that way I dont screw the compression up too much.
- I want a roller cam and the mexican block is a non-roller so I gotta get retrofit lifters...

You can see where this entire thing is getting very very confusing.

ENGINE BUILDING IS SO MUCH FUN!
