Rear Coil-overs, are they worth it?

Ok well I have a tubular k-member and front coil-over setup and was considering putting in rear coil-overs here in the near future but wasn't sure if it would really be worth the money.

This question is addressed to those who have rear-coil overs or really know their suspension stuff.

Right now I have tokico lowering springs in the back with tokico blue shocks. If i decide to upgrade to coil-overs ill be spending roughly around 400$ because not only will i have to buy the rear coil over kit but a new set of shocks in addition because the tokico blues are not compatible with any coil over kit.

My question is: Is it really worth it to upgrade to rear coil-overs in terms of performance/handling/ride quality? Im satisfied with how it looks/sits right now so i wouldn't be doing this for the look but strictly for the performance aspect.

yes they are, you can get your spring rates and ride heights tuned in more precisely, as well as damping and rebound if the shocks and struts are adjustable for it.

Yea man for sure, I get off work in about 2 weeks and will have a month off to do whatever. I got a couple projects lined up already including the Steeda 13" rear rotor package; and am planning on hitting up HRP at-least once, as well as the local car show scene of course and whatever else is going on, they have autocross events at the dog track near my house so i was planning on that as well...anyway i still got your number so ill give you a call when i get back. My last month off was so hectic with xmas and hunting season and all so im planning on devoting most of this next month to car stuff!

Well I called Maximum Motorsports when I was working through the same dilemma. They told me they didn't recommend them for a daily-driven street car, because they would be noisy and stiff. However, seeing as I took their advice, I can't really give you any first-hand impressions or anything.

I have front & rear MM coilovers. Both front & rear are excellent quality setups, but the rears are pretty noisy. I personally would rather go back to standard springs with adjustable LCA's, because they were easier to adjust the ride height & less noisy, but now I have no spring perches on my LCA's. They are pretty stiff, but not any stiffer than regular springs, that all goes with what spring rate you run, & what ride height you set the car at. The lower you go, the stiffer the car will be because it has less travel.

Thanks Epic! I guess im just going to leave my tokico lowering springs. Sounds like i can spend my 340$ in better ways...

I have MM coilovers as well. Can't beat the quality on them. I run about a 1.8hz spring front and rear. For those that don't know the spring hertz is the frequency the springs vibrate at which also the spring rate in other terms. They say a 2.0 hz spring is pretty much ideal spring frequency for autocross and road racing. Mine is Set like I said at 1.8 hz, or 300 lbs/in. In the front and 225 ibs/in. In the rear on 9.5 in. Tall springs. A good soft street spring is around a 1.5 hz spring which is about 250 lbs/in. Front and 175-200 lbs/in. Rear.
