i would like to rebuild my rearend and am trying to decide which gears to use. right now i have 3.73's. here's my best time slip...

60' 2.010
330' 5.717
1/8 8.775
MPH 80.91
1000' 11.438
1/4 13.697
MPH 99.66

this was done at FUN FORD WEEKEND iat Norwalk OH last weekend. it was VERY hot and humid. I was running street radials. I think the MPH is low though... what gears should I change to or should i stick with the 3.73's? i was thinking 3.55's maybe with the heads I'm planning...

Run the car with the heads and the 373s and see if you run out of gear...

You will defeat the purpose going with a smaller than the 3.73's, even with heads. Whats wrong with the rear end? Berrings bad, seals leaking? One wheel peel/bais? If it's just a one-wheel issue, you can rebuild the traction lock without pulling much apart.

Your MPH is consistant with your ET and 60', but your 60' sucks. I've scene a lot worse but I think you need to get out of the hole. What tires are you running? What suspension mods? Going to a 3:55 will only hurt you.

LOW 13s on tires man. Get some slicks. MPH does kinda seem low.

the issue is one-wheel-peel, but if i could benefit from different gears then i would consider that also

Stock axles and slicks are a No-NO Just run some drag radials till you can upgrade the rear end. As for the one wheel peel do a trac lok rebuild with extra shims it makes it alot stronger.

Stock axels are pretty strong, but I can't tell you how long it will last. It's a gamble. Also, stock torque boxes don't like launches on slicks either.
