BB1966,
What upper control arms are you using?
If you're using stock arms, and do the "Shelby drop", you're putting lots of stress on the ball joints, especially going more than 1"
The aftermarket arms Global West etc.. have changed that angle to accomodate for the "Shelby drop"
And it really doesnt change the ride height, maybe just a tad.
Most aftermarket performance springs claim to lower the ride height 1", and you can cut from there to get your desired ride height.
Before you do any cutting, let your new springs settle (break in) and when you change you ride height, your alignment usually needs re-done.
If you do decide to cut, cut 1/4 coil at a time, then drive around, bounce it etc...
Dont learn the hard way (like me) I cut 1/4 coil, lowered the jack, and wanted more, so I cut another 1/4 coil and two days later it was way too low. Had to buy a new set of springs and start over.
