What coils do you have? The shelby drop will not lower your car all that much on its own, maybe .25" or so.

I have not picked out any yet,I was thinking of just cutting a 1/2 to 1 full coil off them first. Also the Shelby drop is 1" but I have seen some that lower the arm 1 3/4" ,is there any advantage to the extra 3/4" drop in the control arm?????

The "Shelby" drop drops the control arm mounting point one inch, but not the car. Others that use more than one inch have redesigned ball joint angles to prevent binding, which could be a problem with the Shelby drop. I have the Global West arms and the best I can measure is a 1 3/8" drop.

I have the 620 coils and the shelby drop with the mid eye rear springs and it looks level but it probably sits about 1/4 to 1/2 higher in the back. I also have the raceing shackles out back as well so I can clear some 10" slicks in the future. I can drop those back down to stock and it would probably be level but no I'm just running on and can't stop help me!!!

BB1966,
What upper control arms are you using?

If you're using stock arms, and do the "Shelby drop", you're putting lots of stress on the ball joints, especially going more than 1"
The aftermarket arms Global West etc.. have changed that angle to accomodate for the "Shelby drop"
And it really doesnt change the ride height, maybe just a tad.

Most aftermarket performance springs claim to lower the ride height 1", and you can cut from there to get your desired ride height.
Before you do any cutting, let your new springs settle (break in) and when you change you ride height, your alignment usually needs re-done.

If you do decide to cut, cut 1/4 coil at a time, then drive around, bounce it etc...

Dont learn the hard way (like me) I cut 1/4 coil, lowered the jack, and wanted more, so I cut another 1/4 coil and two days later it was way too low. Had to buy a new set of springs and start over.

. On the Shelby drop is there an advantage to the 1 3/4" drop over the 1" drop?? I will be useing all new control arms with a wedge kit for the ball joint I will also brace them like Opentrakers and put the bearings in the lower spring mount. I also have Mustangsteves 13" Cobra brake adapters. I will be using 18"x8" f and 18"x9" rear,245/40 & 285/30 Dunlop 9090's. I want the car on the tires not above them,I will cut the stock springs first to see how they work. I think I am going with the 2" rear leafs.......BTW thanks for the help everyone!!!!!!!
