Fox Rear Wheel Fit Ment

Second attempt at posting this thread in the right area (I'm a noob) if this isn't right , I need to stop trying to use my iPhone and get onto my pC

So...been restoring a 1992 GT and have already replaced rear control arms with BBK Gripp and done the axle conversion to boot. Then removed quads.
Bought some 17x10.5 bullitt rear wheels and , upon dry fitting them, found that they contact the rear coil springs :/
I'm stuck and need advice. Should I invest in bolt on spacers? Will the fenders require rolling?
For now, I have Bridgestone RE760 sports 275/40/17 that I plan on stretching until I can afford wider rear tires. (Poor planning cause I recently bought them new)
The current rims are stock 2001 17x8 bullitts that I run with a 5/8(?) spacer .

Any help would be swell. Thanks to all!

That is an awful wide rim. What is the backspacing. You will most likely need to roll the fender lip and possibly work the inner fender area.

Did you lower the car or still have the stock springs.

Non lowered. Stock with new Tokiko shocks.
Concerned that I'll need to return them or get into a bigger jOb than I had planned for :/
Someone suggested UPR coil springs but don't see how that'll help a back spacing issue ?

Even if I hammered away with a BF hammer on the inner body fender well, still wouldn't be enough clearance and if rather have most of the wife tire stance under the car. On the rear

Hahah sorry. Should have read" most of the rear tire stance underneath the car"
Terrible at doing this on the mobile device.

I have 10.5 rear wheels on a 275 and I don't rub too much anymore. My outer fenders are rolled and minor massaging of the inner fender. I'm thinking about getting rid of the 10.5's because I really don't care for the inconveniences.

Spacers on the rear of a Mustang scare me. I'd make every effort possible to avoid those.

What brake specs are you using out back? Sn95 brakes? Drum brakes? Stock fox offset or did you retain the wider track? You stated you did the axle swap, but didn't give details.

I run no spacers. I run fox axles, Cobra brakes

Sorry didn't mean to be vague, new to this. I ordered the front and rear axle conversion from American muscle so unsure of the type of rear axle but it's still a drum configuration.
Perhaps you can tell me which one it is ? I'm using a small wheel spacer currently on the 17x8 rears

5-lug drums then. Ranger drums technically.

The 10.5" rim should fit without the need of spacers. Did you order SN95 wheels, or did you order 10.5" wheels specified for an S197 wheel? This is important as the SN95 versions should fit without spacers and not be near the spring, while the S197 versions are deeper, so I can see how this would be an issue

Boy, that 275 really is stretched onto those wheels lol.....and I thought the 275's on my 10" wide wheels looked tight.
