received my thumper heads today.

i really didn't do much research on any other head besides aluminum. the regular gt40 idea crossed my mind but never looked into it. either way i am very happy and can't wait to drive the car.

Haha, I read my old post on that one in the link. No one did take me up on that call out. Anyways, the ported E7's do work, and I am sure, like the rest of us you'll be happy.

i think it is weird these days that people think that you need to spend 1500 on heads to go fast....i know of quite a few cars running on e7s that are daily driven that run low 11s. i Just bolted on some REALLY worked over 69 windsor heads and i have not driven the car yet but im POSITIVE it is going to haul a$$ over my old combination just by the way it sounds....the motor sounds more responsive and throaty. Dont get me wrong....the afrs, tf,canfield etc...heads are works of art and WILL out perform any ford production casting but YOU DONT need them to go fast...it is all in the combination!

I would still like to see an independant flow test of these Thumper heads to see if they flow as advertised, but nobody seems to have the nerve to do it.
They might be surprised if they did.

Exactly what i've got sitting and waiting for new valves. '69 351W castings, the best small block Ford casting since the GT40Ps (production castings anyways). They're ported/polished all to hell and back. The reason i'm using these instead of the GT40Ps i'm preaching praise for is that i got these for FREE with a couple bent falves, so i'll throw'em on and see what happens.

Has nothing to do with nerve. I bought thumpers heads because I wanted a nice boost compared to stock and I got it.I was very happy with it.

I later built a forged 306 with afr 165 heads tfs cam and cobra intake with tmoss ported lower and it was fast! but it made most of its power in the mid to upper rpm range.Thats great for the track, but for a daily driven street car My thumper tmoss combo was more fun. It had alot more balls down low compared to the 306.
When I build a street car I want the power down low where you would normally drive it so when you mash the pedal it responds instantly by mashing you into your seat..

Heres my thoughts:
people need to realize you cant just bolt on a set of afr heads or any other parts for that matter and make great hp gains.
When building a engine you must match the parts properly so that they compliment one another.
Because of that fact it is not always feasible or cost effective to say you should of bought afr heads for a little more.
Yeah the heads are a little more then you need the cam and rockers and intake and injs and everything else needed to compliment the heads and make it all work together. All the little mores soon add up to several thousands.

Or you could buy the thumpers and some gaskets put it together use all the same parts you had already it will still compliment the heads and will run great. Just my thoughts.

fact is my vert ran 15.50's before the tmoss thumper combo.
with the tmoss thumper combo it ran 13.90 @ 100 on street tires with a 1.98 60 ft ...this was in a full weight vert. It wieghed around 3800# with me in it and full tank.
Take that same motor and put it in a light coupe with slicks and it would be deep into the 12's. For a little over $1000.00 in parts gaskets etc.

I've seen e7 cars in the 11's with nitrous, but the fun factor is not there. And a good nitrous setup with the works is $750+.

So now you have have spent money on stock heads, and you have a $750 nitrous setup. At $50-$75 a fill, you can't really fool around with it.
You really just could of bought a set of better heads and had more power to play around with all the time.

I have no problem with ported stock heads, IF that is going to satisfy you forever. But if you need to add a nitrous kit or you tire of things quickly, they aren't money well spent, because the porting is now maxed out, and there is no more potential.

Take it from someone that has wasted alot of money on different parts. Buying things twice hits the wallet hard.

This is true, However if your not into racing but you want more power ported stock parts work great. You could home port your own parts and make nice gains.

yeah i measured the valves in mine...they have bigger valves...intake was 2.02 and exhaust was about 1.73:shrug:
